looks like someone lied a month ago...
anyway, the two companies are in "dire danger" of "not breaking even"
i mean, hey! SMRT posted an after-tax profit of $162.9 million (that's pure PROFIT! unencumbered by taxes, dividend and everything else) while SBST posted a miserly after-tax profit of $54.3 million
like that how? they're in danger of making losses!!
AIEEEEEE!!!
must increase fares!! all must bow and worship THE PROFIT!!!
wat to expect from a bunch or liars
From here, average public transport distance in 2009 was 9.7km. So the average fare collected from adult commuters per journey is $1.25.
Thus, a 2¢ increase in fares across the board will translate to an average percentage increase of 1.60% for adult commuters.
i wonder if staff pay will be revised upwards in a year's time...
and i don't mean the yearly increment or one-time added "bonus" pay
pui~
2cts may sound little but it is per journey
so the kaching kaching is still damn loud
Basket.
Every few years increase 2cents. Thats like alot of CENTS for them!
Aiyah market crash today and they announce fare increase > got brains, empathy boh...
It is strange that the transport company did not promise any service improvement and was given the fare increase.
It will open flood gate for more ghost of price increase.
So, what is the PTC needed in the 1st place ?
I believe the motto for NDP Rally this year is "Can't Be Helped".
Make more noise also useless cos no one is listening to you and me.
Too busy meeting KPI for bonus and dividends.
so wat are singaporeans going to do abt this?
still guai guai take bus and train rite?

Well.....you're in for a rude shock once you aren't a student.
Honestly speaking, those who are old enough would have experienced the fare increases before PTC started taking actions to limit it in 2005.
Prior to 2005, fare increases tend to be in the order of 5cents and 10cents. I still remember where adult feeder fares only cost 35cents in the 1990s. However by 2005, that 35cent has nearly doubled.
In fact, after the PTC stepped in, the largest adjustment to fares was not the fare adjustment exercises, but instead the migration to dbtf (firstly with the increase of transfer rebates, and finally the dbtf). This simple change resulted in fare differences up to 20cents (e.g. 858 from yishun to airport or 168 from wdls to tamp) which i actually feel its a fare hike in disguise.
Of course, those using concession would simply not feel any difference at all.
Those bastards who approve this drive their million dollar sports cars and with all their hoes. No wonder they don't see that this is unjust.l
So those who voted for PAP not long ago, you must be really proud of yourselves by doing everybody else in.

the fare hike will remain there until you are old enough to be affected.

In your opinion, I think you will be disappointed if he is still not affected when he is older.
first WORLD country a must to increase fares to keep up image. Yes/No?
Lui can wayang, squeze buses and mrt with people. No actions, talk and talk only.
CEO of SMRT will get at least $2 millions pay package coming year, last drawn is 1.85 millions. The bloody fat man in PTC Gerard dont know what.. I want to slap him his bloody face.. just another "run dog" who approve fare hike every year. Review salaries of ministers pay also crapped.
