For what i noticed, there is significant difference between the tib-plated umv lance and PA-plated umv lance. One is the doors and the other is the 'bus stopping' sign. Any ideas why? Whereas for the UK lance, there is no difference.
How about because SMRT likes it that way....?
whether there's any diff or not, one thing is the same & that is to bring commuters from one destination to another..
I heard from ppl quite long time back that a few of those PA plated Lances were bought from Malaysia.Apparently a operator in KL bought this buses and when this buses arrived there, they didnt use them at all.So the then TIBS bought them here from there instead. They were considered brand new since they were not used at Malaysia at all.Anyway if u all noticed, there wld be a small orange light which lights up at night (which nw the new Citaros here have) at the exterior between the exit door and the rear tyre.U can find this type of lights in the Malaysian public buses as its a requirement there.

The PA Lances and TIB1257C (except the standing area) are the standard UMW Lances, ie if you go Malaysia and you see a UMW Lance, it will be the same spec as the PA plate ones. There are also similar UMW Lances in New Zealand.
To add, the PA umw lances' doors are made by Deans Powered Doors of UK, which is easily identified with the plastic handle on the top left and right of the doors.
As for the rest, they are made by SMC Transit of Australia. This can be identified with the small little round badge on the door that says SMC.
Used to drive the PA plate once during charter,What i can say the significant diffrence is top speed. The PA locked till 75kmh
