Why no Korean brand buses in Singapore

We have European brands like Merc, Scania, Volvo, Japanese brands like Hino, Isuzu. And now we even have China buses! But why no Korean brand buses like Hyundai and Kia?

It isn't, really.
The operators should have purchased it when the Korean Won (KRW) sunk to a blooming 900+ KRW - 1 SGD... Now the KRW is on the uptrend, but the SGD also is.
Having sat Korean buses extensively in the Korean countryside (out of Seoul), I can tell you the new ones (CNG or LPG) are very comfortable indeed.

Look back 6 years. We actually had a chance to use korean buses, but somehow the plan was shelved even though it was a cooperation agreement.
Instead, the purchase of the buses was converted into a purchase of korean made taxis instead.
Not sure if anyone remembers the reason why the buses was not bought instead. One thought was because CNG tech and stations not being mature enough, but they could always do with diesel.

Quite correct,There are dozen of Sonatas Taxis everday everytime at the workshop with damaged gearbox,Broken camshaft etc.. -
the hyundai sonata also become police car liao.... same model as the taxis

Sonata taxis not bad lah. engine is quieter than the lousy toyota crowns. fast acceleration too.

u won't know what the hell is seriously wrong wif the sonatas: toyotas are easy to drive while sonatas are not. toyotas are airy while sonatas are not. the sonatas so being "too complex" that it gives the drivers BONKERS.engine and gear components keep going berserk. who cares abt the toyota crowns being noisy when its air-con is so much better than those "what-so-called-new" sonatas.the only taxis that beat the toyotas are the chervrets. SMRT chervrets r so grand, i mistaken it for a LimoCab when i first see that glory!!!

when driving or taking toyota crown taxis u must
the toyota crown's suspension sux too. the suspension is so soft that when it goes over a hump there's a loud thud sound. but it is very spacious as compared to the sonatas
i think the reason why the sonata gearbox spoil is because the drivers always like to shift the gear to N when the vehicle is still moving and have not came to a stop! seen many sonata drivers doing this. but i have not seen merc taxi drivers doing this

Those Chevys are Korean cars, they are simply rebadged Daewoos.

Drive car before ah? Why not you drive a manual car and then after that drive auto, see which one easier to drive then you tell us.
