61, 106, 190 & 961 need DDs badly.
just modify the height restriction area will do. anyway, isn't the parking lots re-constructed to accomodate bendys in the past?
Originally posted by Bus Stopping:Well to be honest, although double decks should be bought for increasing capcity, smrtb will probably not need it anymore when downtown line opens 4 years down in 2015.
Almost all of their high capcity routes (especially those plying bpj) would have lost some or most of their capacity to sbst's dtl. By then would have only left a few services like 851, 969 etc that can really make use of dds. Of course, that is unless u want feeder services to use dds too, but it seems most are coping well with bendies for now.
bemdies are gd enuff oredi... u see how singaporeans cram to the bottom deck of DDs and the top... practically empty? hilarious scene... it's either they lazy to walk up or they afraid of heights.

laugh
You want to know how useless bendies are?
2 - 3 buses arriving Clementi jam, why? 3 useless bendy buses alrdy fill up Clementi bus stop. 2x 189 & 1x 184.
Boon Lay bus cannot move. Why? 1x 180 bendy, 1x 172 bendy queueing up to pick up pax. Somemore hopeless, the queue of 180 cannot clear fast.
It's more of education of moving up to upper deck. Dun need to laugh also, those who laugh are doing it themselves usually.
Can go on laughing
Int like S'goon are no longer built for bendies, same goes to Clementi.
Which is why LTA in indecisive. Since they're no longer building Int w/ bendy bays, Citaro G should be made a fantasy.
Which is why your kids demand good buses, but have no idea of operating buses. Actually seriously, SBS mgmt should do opposite.
Ask for Citaro on feeders, throw out the VO2x.. more seats ma, short distance somemore...
Demand so much, dunno how to fight for aircon buses for ppl at Tuas. Selfish huh?
Somemore your kids dunno how long queue buses can go.
Thanks to ADDs, SBS can allow 2x boarding for people taking 193 & 242 in the morning. Usually the 179A is in bay, allowing pax to board from both entrance and exit door...
193 & 242 just form up from the back, ppl walk up and board.. bus moves off together w/ 179A.
If it's bendies can do like this without affecting 179A's dispatch?
Somemore the bendy mess at Woodlands whenever the alighting bay is entirely filled as a parking bay.
If places like NTU goes bendy, massive jam riao for some of the big bus stops dun have proper bus bay or they're along the road type.
Kids are taking everything for granted... Sad... How to let these ppl run the bus scene in future?

Demand is never mind. It is always good to dream once in a while. But when the demands sounds like it is as if someon owing them, then it becomes irritating
Want to dig back the Pasir Ris Air show mess when bendies flooded up the whole place?
Our place is only this big, the dua kok tai bendy bus is an liability.. gotta design everything specially for them..

Consequently, if you realise, some bendies don't have people standing at the rear.
Bendies are good for feeder routes where quick pick up and set down times are needed and the roads are not as congested. However, DDs are more suitable buses for long distance express routes and routes which go into the city, where road space matters.

Using Bendies or Double Deck aren't enough. The problem is because some inconsiderate one will tend to crowd near the exit area(Especially bendy) just because they fear of the driver moving off when they are trying to exit. For double deck, people fear of driver moving off when they are coming down and the exit area already packed. The problem is not only the type of buses they are using, but the driver and the passengers.

But the new BIs example say at Boon Lay's alighting bay, practically gags the bendies we can have.

this happens mainly for feeder svc or short distance travel. for eg svc 72-pax from Tampines Int who only travel for a few stops naturally prefer to stick at the lower deck while pax travelling beyond Tampines mainly head up to the upper deck.
but for most of the time in general, i observe people still prefer to walk up to the upper deck. sometimes, the lower deck has only a few passengers (sometimes maybe only 1 or 2) but there are many people hiding on the upper deck!

The problem is with the YIS Ave 2 entrance underneath the HDB apartment block. I think max clearance is 4m nia.

bendies carry less people than DD (7 to be exact). Anyway, if SMRT were to get more bendies, I'd love to see the Scania KUAs enter service. It was a shame not having the gorgeous-looking Habit-bodied L94UBs in SG.

Then what about DD? They need min 4.5m clearance. All overhead structures need to be built to that specification.
Heck, just revert to rigid SDs.

Not insulting but Scania really always create lots of vibrations especially in city buses.
