Can you provide us with a source? I mean, that is an unverified claim without any sources. It's like how I can also come in and claim it is getting Wright bodies.
Wow, Gemilang bodied MANs.
Somehow this purchase reminds me they are here to replace the outgoing Mercedes Benz 0405... So dont expect much. Doubt there is any fleet add... just replacement of TIB425R to TIB561E...
Probably just 150 units..
When we know the exact number, we would be able to trace the cost.....
So meaninh it would look similar to ex-SBS8031J?
Cheers.
G'day all,
Being the non-integral A22 chassis, MAN will *NOT* be providing the bodywork for your buses. Integral MAN standard low-floor city buses have the internal designation of A21. One would assume that the units acquited by SMRT will be similar to the demonstrator, so you will be getting NL 323 Fs. The MAN D 2066 LUH in Euro 5/EEV form is a very responsive engine with all the latest technologies including Common Rail Injection and twin-stage turbocharging. These engines have power all over the rev range and should serve Singapore well.
I sure as hell know they won't be powered by CNG.

Although I doubt they would be using Integral MAN bodyworks for the A22 ordered by SMRT, but.....
A22 as integral form does exist. Here's an example of a Lion's City with shortened wheelbase.

i have friend who work inside there and he show me a photo of the bus. i got proof so i speak it
Hmmm... If you claim you have a photo which in turns act as proof of evidence that the production MAN buses are Gemilang bodied, i am truly, utterly disappointed with SMRT Buses. The demo MAN with MCV Evolution bodywork to me is a stepping stone. At least, SBS Transit have their Wright bodied B9TLs and if SMRT Buses went ahead with MCV Evolution for their production MAN buses, we get to see two different types of European bodywork after a long absence. Unfortunately, i can't seem to comprehend the fact that they chose Gemilang after 1100 Scania K230UBs and 134 Mercedes Benz OC500LE to prove that Gemilang bodied buses aren't exactly the way to go for city buses, especially if the chassis are good quality ones, but bodied by cheap quality Asian made bodywork. Well, i suppose it all boils down to cost cutting measures and profits at the end of the day. Can't say much for SBS Transit. At least, they're willing to invest in double deckers with good quality European bodywork and even a mass purchase of the world wide popular: Mercedes Benz 0530 Citaro, despite the fact SMRT trialled one bus and subsequently, bought only 10 miserable units. Sigh......
I saw one bus chassis in STK MAN Plant when passing by just now, dunno would that belongs to one of SMRT latest purchase.
Cheers.
Could be...Deliveries are expected to start from August 2011..So, yah. High possibility.
If it is than that will means it's locally built.
Cheers.

Wah didnt know singapore got an assembly plant. They manufacture MAN buses and trucks?
Gemilang then Gemilang lor....as long as the bus has seats that do not come loose. As long as the windows do not fall off on the highway, as long as 1 bar doesn't become 2 bars, it's a good enough bus.
Seriously, what more do you want?
And I havent had a K230UB that vibrated till my ears itched like what I had on B9TLs and the fabulous (!) Hino Volgrens. So much for "good quality" bodies.

Well, the gemilang MAN running on discovery bay services are still pretty good up till today. But of course with good quality bodies, buses tend to stay younger... E.g. (hispano o405 vs dm umw lances)

I won't agree about the UMW Lance actually! Haha. But I suspect its the chassis rather than the body. But the M'sian Lance.....no comments.
But yes. Good solid bodies like the DM bodies, Hispano are of course desirable.
But "cheap, better, faster" now. What to do?
As long as the Gemilang body doesn't become Gemiland bodies during the journey, I'm ok with it.
238 Unit Were bought

Seriously speaking, the offer back then wasn't good either.
$380,000 for a OC500LE -_-"
I dun think e Hispano are any better these days w/o good maintenance.
Driver's blind cui alrdy, you still find moudly aircon smell onboard some Habits.

It's a service centre for MAN products. Mostly SAF vehicles, though.

Which means a average cost of $273k per bus. Quite value for money for a euro-made SD.
