Guys, did you check out SMRT's Annual Report 2011? It's already out. According to the report, over the next two years, SMRT will be bringing in a total of 238 new buses. Euro V WAB buses. Most likely, low floor configuration. Either using SCR or EGR technology.
Here's the Annual Report for FY 2011.
http://www.smrt.com.sg/investors/documents/annual_reports/2011/index.htm
And here's the passage that kuang mentioned,
"Over the next two years, SMRT will be buying 238 new buses to replace the older fleet. The new additions will be wheelchair accessible buses (WAB) with low-entry flooring to cater to wheelchair-bound passengers. With this purchase, SMRT will have a total of 372 WABs, compared to 134 today. SMRT Automotive Services will be responsible for the commissioning, repair and maintenance of these buses, which will comply with the Euro V standard. The vehicles will be based on either the Exhaust Gas Recirculation or Selective Catalytic Reduction technology"
134 is obviously the 134 OC500LE. This means that the 238 new buses already includes the 11 citaros, so we're looking at a additional 227 new buses in 2 years.
In short, there should be about 100 more smrt buses coming in by the end of the year, and about 100 more next year.
Oh, and i guess we wont be seeing the SMRT O405s leaving anytime soon too.
SMRT Automotive Services will carry out the refurbishment of 323 MB O405 buses. This is based on the Land Transport Authority granting a life extension of the Group’s current buses. After the refurbishment, the MB O405s can continue running services until they are 19 years old. At present, the fleet’s average age is 15 years. The life extension programme enables SMRT to continue operating these buses efficiently and safely, while maximising the use of our existing fleet

Even though they have made this statement, Who gets to stay and who gets to go is still a question mark to begin with.

Not going to meet 40% WAB tat's alrdy long overdued.
Any case, didn't LTY say abt increasing capacity? Now GLC say no expansion wo
MOF & MOT no communicate w/ each other properly?

Too early to say. 425R and 426M the 2 demonstrators are still unknown as of yet, The rest have pretty much a lengthy time left.

This is partly because then-TIBS was brought in the MB O405s much later though, and the Hispano body + chassis are rather reliable. It may not make economical sense given the buses are still able to run.

Even SBS not even GLC can generally do better.

Maybe they will be refurbished in July this year coz they are supposed to be deregistered by then. I wonder how those buses will be refurbished. Like the Dafs and the Scanias?
