but like I've said, higher pay, but shift work becomes an hindrance.
Please no China bus. Their reliability and durability is questionable.
I rather have a bus from Europe that is reliable and safe and have past records of operational reliability and safety, rather than a MIC bus that explodes using CNG or crushed and battered body after an accident.
Anyway, SBST have worked with the European bus makers for so long.

singaporeans already dun want so many FT to come here mah... how to let local do normal shift? where got normal shift? either AM shift (4am to maybe 2 pm), PM shift (2 pm to midnight?) and Split Shift (morning peak and PM peak) mainly.. very little extended shift (which so call normal shift?)... who will want to wake up 3 am everyday to go drive buses?

where got DD shortages? There are so many SP DDs right now.... no place to deploy them....

That is problem wake up 3am to drive bus. SBS should add in 9am to 9pm shift for local driver and 9pm to 1am for FT and 4 am to 9 am for FT. of crouse local can take up this timing if given over time pay

so how to settle your morning peak hours??
Then how you expect buses to operate from 5am to 12midnight???

All thanks to those services that downgrade from DD to SD.
because of high cost of operating DD bus. SD bus is much lower cost to operate. Maybe introduce CItaro buses for long trip and DD bus for short trip example 28 use SD from Toa Payoh to Tampines and 28 A from bedok to Tampines during peck hour use DD. 31 and 31A is a good example.

4 am to 9 am shift
9pm to 1am or 2 am shift
between 9am to 9 pm shift.
and sunday off for local driver and sat half day for local driver. let FT take over to drive in the weekends and holiday. if local want to drive in weekend or holiday they can ask for OT pay

3 shift of drivers..
so more manpower, so even say we can get manpower, who going to 'buy receipt'
given the fair increase that should use for employ more driver and use SD buses more often during off peck hour to save desel.

You look at the deployments, it becomes obvious that there's surplus DDs at the current moment.
Of course, its the transition phase where the Wrights are coming in and the LOs are retiring. Maybe this situation is temporary...
Or perhaps the DDs on 163 are on trial.
I still think the DDs can be put to better use on other services, but perhaps SBST has constraints that I am unaware of.

it's all makan by diesel cost
Furthermore I believe not many ppl who know fuel consuming diesel buses are...
The Merc 0305/0405 was the champion in diesel consumption if I'm not mistaken.
no la
I mean ppl think bus fuel consumption as like cars, 1lit for 12km??
Somemore we are gulity of causing diesel prices to spike till it's abt e same price of formula 95 pre petrol tax.
Why? Cardboard lacks electricity to produce our simi iPad, so they're resolving to use diesel generators lor.
Now the new bullet train kena stop ops twice thanks to no electricity
Maybe SBST will purchase the K310UD?
I took the bus and was pretty impressed by it.
Has the performance and comfy feel. Very solid chassis IMO.

Ends up you need more buses than u do w/ congestion.

yeah, but when the population of sg is increasing?
unless u prefer to be packed like sardines.
ok.. today saw SBS9669M.. about 7.40am at the jln kayu bus stop, towards sengkang..
mostly for the AMK/YCK >>> ind park 3 7.30am shift crowd
Actually i find there's something wrong with the timings for SBS9669M.
The other time I took this bus from Sengkang Interchange.
The bus came just less than 2 mins after the previous single deck 163 left the interchange.
Ended up, this bus caught up with the single deck 163 at Fernvale Ave.
After which, this 9669 began to drive damn damn damn slow such the distance between both buses became further and further.
Not to mention, the whole double deck bus is almost empty, because most of the passengers boarded the single deck 163 just right in front.
I thought this was just a 1 time incident so I didnt really take it to heart.
The other day, I was waiting for a bus at a bus stop at Yio Chu Kang Road.
I saw a single deck 163 at the opposite bus stop passing by
less than 2 mins again, this same double deck came to the same bus stop.
This time, this double deck is empty. (from what i see lah)
So this gives rise to qns what's the objective of putting a double deck in 163 when the frequency is so short between this bus and the before in front and it does not really pick up any passengers?
Hopefully the 2 incidents only happened once in a while.
which trip is this? the peak trip for this DD slot is the 0810hrs trip from Sengkang and probably the 1730+ departure from toa payoh...Originally posted by SBST163:Actually i find there's something wrong with the timings for SBS9669M.
