Originally posted by Bus Stopping:Well, there issnt a need to revert back the lifespan. Its always possible to lay up the vehicle early and dereg it as long there is enough vehicles to cope with the demand.
Of course, a proper plan has to be set in place. There's no point extending and then paying road tax but end up dereg few days later. However, leaving a bus in the depot and keeping it as spare also mean that there's one more bus to go for periodic maintainance.
yes. no point reverting.. just laid up the buses early just like what they do to O405 as well. Road tax wont be paid once it is laid up. some VO2x might be having some problem with maintainence... so have to go early... and maybe can salvage the parts as well...

Since road tax won't be paid after the laid-up, this means that SBS Transit could save money.
SBS7201S had been officially de-registered on 13 June 2011.

the closest we have would probably be 679T which afaik was refurbished and due to be extended.. then got into an accident.

I was actually saying those who were de-registered without any accidents after completing its original lifespan...but I can accept your answer.

Lifespan extension for following buses.
Lifespan Extended to 28 Jun 2013: SBS9203Z -
SBS9208K, SBS7205G-SBS7207B
Lifespan Extended to 6 Jul 2013: SBS9209H - SBS9212Y, SBS7210R, SBS7211M
SBS7208Z and SBS7209X lifespan are not extended as of NOW... So high chance they will be deregistered......
Hmmm... Seems that there will be more air con buses for JIS services very soon.
SBS7208Z and SBS7209X were officially de-registered.
Hopefully SBSTransit will consider another brand of DDs too.

Alexander Dennis??? MAN???
The B9TLs seem to be having mainteinance issues.....hmmmm, if you compare it to say......the B10TL.
Of course both are very different buses, so can't really compare, but I wonder why that would be the case. The engine? Radiator? Gearbox?
The B9TL is a lot more complicated so it might be more understandable that would be the case.

For modern vehicles nowadays, they engines emphasize more on electronics than on mechanicals, although mechanicals is still the heart of the engine. Not just buses but this applies to cars too.
And usually big motorbikes too.Probably the 6 speed gearbox wasnt fine tuned to sync with the governed 60kmh.In this case theres a logic why many SMRT Mechanical HOD refuse to lock at 60 but instead 65-70kmh.Think SBST should lock their speed to 65 rather than 60.Just see at HGDEP/BBDEP MKIIIs most of them can travel up to 65kmh(exclude JB ones) and there's less issue on the bus gearing compared to other models.

254 must get 2 VO2X from 179 meaning 179 should be fully air-con, 257 must get 1 replacement bus (LO3X, VO3X, B9TL CDGE, B10TL, B9TL Wright, K230UB, DM3500, Strider OR DM)

Yeah, I did hear of that.
But how ironic that something that's supposed to improve reliability increases mainteinance time.

Yeah well said.
Svc 255 start to have K230. Chances it will get more, maybe the 1st batch. Hoping B9TL CDGE will follow.
