Adidas is still a non-expired ad I guess. Furthermore TIB425R has been cameoing around and does Svc 61 most of the time. TIB426M did 2 cameo svcs last week; 67 and 969.

TIB426M's big orange ad is there for a very long time, I am not sure whether or not it expired though, TIB532P also the same.

There might be a chance that what happened 15 months back could happen to TIB425R and 426M, So don't think of it as being gone permanantly.
keep them in depots undergoing refurnishment then extend the lifespan like the UDs??

Good its heytime that those 4xx-5xx series O405s go.Same goes for UDs.Imagine we're in 2011 still got those old buses..They can extend the 6xx & 8xx series for svc like 882/981/177/178.UDs should go by this year regardless of the refurbishment.Another candidate the Hinos.Spare part is headache.Think Hino Australia supply most of the parts.Lance UMW also need to go or at least fully refurbish with bigger LED EDS.
IMHO here are some suggestion,SMRT should maintain
Scania Strider for at least another 2 years maximum
DAF for another year
Hino and Elbos should go or sell
UDs should go
O405s 4xx-5xx should go
UMW Lance should go for full refurbishment,UK and Volgrens should at leat do 60% refurbishment
O405G MKIs should go or sell and the refurb ones should stay till 2013 the maximum
MKIIs also same
Volgren and Habit bendies should stay till 2014..
New buses at least need another 250 for the time being and 50 should be WAB bendies.Their fleets should at least have 70% rigids and 30% bendies.Convert Lor 1 into mini bus park with wall,at least 2 pump island and 1 auto bus wash with maintenance facilities as well as small offices.Parking lots should at least have 80..Good for svc like 106,970,171,960,75,61,980,961 and 985 as well RWS8.
If not there then Kallang Road got big field, can make another bus depot there... for the services mentioned by carbikebus...

Even SBST which has been doing mass-purchases have been forced to extend life-span.
They shld just get someone more competent to do something about it before another bus burns down.
Their annual report alrdy says, fleet replacement, no more fleet expansion.
Seriously I still dun find the MKIII old on my rides on 160 or 170. They're still quite well maintained despite their age and long working hours.
The MKIII must be one of those sorely underrated types. The type that does does the work quietly with very little headache.
There were 300 in service. Zero written off in accidents of any kind.
I've never heard of anyone complaining about "noisy MKIIIs" also.
The only thing I wasn't really happy about the MKIII was the lousy aircon, but that was rectified in recent years. It isn't terribly fast most of the time also, but it still got me from A to B with full load and didn't overheat or anything.
Took 831U last night, it still sounds good with the 17 year old whine of the engine and Voith...practically no change except some creaks and groans here and there if you close your eyes...but well within acceptable limits. The DM body might not look nice but its really sturdy....just like the 0405s.
The MKII shared the same characteristics. Good chassis layout + sturdy body + terrifically reliable engine....pay tribute to the THD101GC.

I still feel the 4xx-5xx should deserve a place, Don't write them off yet.

NO! O405G MK1 and MK2 must stay at least until 2015.
TIB426M is still spotted inside AMDEP.. parking at different area different day....
TIB425R and TIB426M extended.
More may follow suit though, As expected from the halfway done job.
TIB426M back on service today 106, interior is repainted with OC colours. Nothing much. Purple seats covers from the first batch of original refurbishment of seats are retained.

Eh, Seems like BO has the money to put this ad up for a super long time whereas other ads has gone.
