the EDS seems smaller.. or is this the demo?

They are the actual production batch. Seems to be equipped with Alcoa rims as a standard feature for all new SBST buses, and should be similar plug door system with SMRT buses.

You sure?
I think the ride on the SBST ones will be much better and quieter without those loud, irritating and unnecessary SMRT annoucements, that's for sure.
And SMRT ones are terrible with the type of air con outlets used, which is stuffy most of the times. But if SBST are going to use the same kind aircon outlets as SMRT, then I think these Citaros should be modified with those eyeball aircon outlets instead of using the default ones.
Anyway, good to see that these buses are already out in Germany. Should be coming to Singapore very soon.
The eyeball duct is better.
But do SBS have the right for all these minor works?

Not very sure about these but Mercedes Benz doesn't seems to have such options for air con ducts.
From what I can see from the picture, the grabpoles, and maybe seats are all in SBST corporate colors.

Even in Europe, there are only a handful using local bodyworks. If I'm not wrong, there are a few using HESS bodies.
Sorry for creating another topic base on SBST Citaro, cause I don't know this exists. Anyway, that is already locked.

Citaro over KUB anyday. No matter who is operating the bus. Period.
The buses should be out soon! Can't wait to see more of them on the roads.
wow the new version look nicer. How about creating a double decker version of this bus? I am sure it going to be a bests seller in hong kong and singapore? SMRT might get them to replace the bandy bus. sbs version the head light different from the one in the web page i mean the version mercedes is selling. is singapore version a interurban or city bus?

you should take a ride on e Batch I how powerful and smooth they're today.
if not for e 1100 KUBs, would this Citaro be offered at an iresistable rate?

If u give me a saab, volvo or mercedes, I will choose to drive a merc of any class.... but that's for passenger car.
A 17 years old LO3x is more comfortable than a KUB batch 1 when I took it from BNL to orchard on 174. That KUB vibrated all the way throughout. No choice what you pay is what you get........

I'll always tell bus nutters tis
As if engine dun have vibration like tat. I sit on the OC rear I also feel vibration
I'll always say tis... SMRT can buy Citaro but maintenance cmi esp the bendies. In no time Citaro became horrible too.

Try this, take a KUB, any one of it, whatever batch u like. When the bus stops at a traffic light, or a bus stop, lean with your head against the window and feel the vibration. Now, after you have done that, try it on a Citaro.
It's not the price of the bus, not the age of the bus, but its tiny details like this that makes a passenger more comfortable and less pissed-off when you take a 1 hour journey to and fro every day.
Not to mention, the KUB's radiator is so annoyingly loud that it makes people have to talk louder when making a phone call in the bus.
i believe small details like this, will make people's daily commute much more bearable and comfortable.
Re: SBST vs SMRT Citaro
Its like your wife gives birth to a pair of identical twins, and both are seperated at birth to two distinct families. How each twin turns out to be when he/she grows up depends on the adopted parents' upbringing of the child.
Re: SBST buying bus at a cheap price
As i've said before if they buy a more expensive option/bus model, who is going to pay for the excess? Its us the commuters in the long run. And if buying the more expensive option will dilute/decrease shareholder's wealth, do you think they will go ahead with it?

Go refer to how much SBS got the Citaro.
Yucks. Who is going to lean on the window for long? Yucks w/ the oily stain. Seriously even if 1 were to rest on a car, no one is going to lean on the window.
You buy a bus you're going to use it for 17 years. You dun maintain it like wat's going on to the bendies right now (rattle like a manual transmission as it halts). For this case those sitting at the rear row would know wat it feels like. Front carriage can't feel a thing.

so anyone feel that SBST O405 is better than SMRT O405? or the other way round?
as for the price wise, price of buses is one issue. maintainence cost is another big issue....

SMRT would rather use their maintainence crews for servicing other vehicles (from private companies or SPF/SCDF etc) which can generate more revenues.... look at AMDEP/WLDEP, there are so many heavy vehicles in it....thus less priority on servicing on own buses.....
