So where is SBS6002???But I read in another thread that a SBST Citaro costs about SGD 315,000.
Looks pretty cheap for a bus, can buy a Mercedes Benz E class for that.
Is the Scania K230UB cheaper than this price???
Scania K230UB were very expensive, I think.
400 units costing S$147 million
another 200 units at a cost of S$72 million
do the maths urself

But from another perspective, the kubs does bring along some job opportunities with the employment of a small assembly force to assemble the buses. Although this may not be very significant in terms of value brought to the economy.

Wow, that is around S$ 360,000 to S$367,500, a few thousand more than the Citaros. If the Scanias were registered with the debates taking place now from 2008 to 2010, the price would be almost the same as the Citaros.
My advise to SBST is get more Citaros in future instead of KUBs since the price a each unit is almost the same but you get a better quality bus with a stepless aisle. Somemore people build the bus for you.

I'd rather they get slightly more DDs now.

Ya, but hope they can get some Alexander Dennis Enviro 500 or Mercedes Benz can develop a double decker bus for SBST based on the Citaro or OC500LE.

chassis VIN might reveal some details.

Well, its quite unlikely they will move their top of the line vehicles production to za. Although the connecto production might be moved to za in that case.

Hmm, from past examples that i've seen the VIN referes mostly to the country of the company instead of where the factory is located. Do correct me if im wrong on this.
I saw 6002 today...

what i see in other countries like malaysia and taiwan, their chassi do come from different origins and is reflected in the VIN. any examples, hopefully locally, where the VIN does not match the place of production?

The Volvo B10TLs (excluding 9888Y and 9810X) were made in Poland, but have Swedish VIN.
The OC500LEs were supposedingly (at least true for Perth ones) made in Spain, but have German VIN.
But I still believe that the Citaro production remains in Mannheim.

Hmm, i dont have any ready examples locally, but for example for Scania AB, their factories worldwide do have different factory codes and its indicated in the VIN as the 11th digit. Do refer to wikipedia entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scania_AB
