I rode a new double deck bus yesterday, and noticed that the new car smell is rather strong inside, especially on the second deck.
Why is the air quality is really bad, especially for those who are pregnant and children? Even though the air con was strong, but still it didn't help much.
How long does it take the bus from the factory before starting the service?

Obviously yes.
To topicstarter, the bus was just released onto service, with the newest one just a few days ago.

Maybe 3 months, sbs7510a does not have this smell already...
This thread is redundant. Every new vehicle will have a strong smell of leather and plastics. I have ever been on board of cars with stronger plastic and leather smells than this bus. Even refurnished O405s has stronger smells than this.
So far no one is affected by the smell, rather have a clean new bus smell than a stale air smell in the vehicle interior. Everyone is ok with the smell, and I've seen school children running about in the upper deck and the smell doesn't even bother them.
Having new buses is already giving us a favor, so quit whining.
Not sure which model was that. It was bus service no. 30.

Confirm its a new Wright double decker. It very normal for such smell from new buses.
I love the "new smell"..
Then it should be the Wrights.
It's a bit obvious that there will be some smell. These buses are at the earliest 3 to 4 months old. Some are very new(we're talking a week here) so the smell would be more distictive.
What would be your solution then? Put air fresheners in every bus?
How long does it usually take the bus from the factory before starting into service?

have to see the company, but normally wouldn't take as long as 2 to 3 months if its assembled in Singapore... In between the days, normally the doors are closed to prevent from dustiness in depots or assembly plants, so probably the smell are kept inside until its registered and hit the roads...

poisonous only when you inhale in a super large amount..
the bus journey not say that long so it won't be that poisonous..
The smell shouldn't be a problem, since every vehicle will have a strong scent of new interior smell. And there is no traces of solvent smell such as glue or paint. Even my sensitive nose can take it, so I'm sure it should be generally accepted by all commuters. The smell should go away in a month or 2 usually.
