bus too long oso complain

i think there weren't such thing as 12m DD in the past. :) or if there is.... MCW Super Metrobus.
I think variety of length and height would be the best. It would be a better mix so that they can run on routes that have different demands. In HK almost all the routes can run double-decker buses, even sv51 which runs to the highest point of HK(Tai Mo Shan/Route TWISK) which a vehicle can pass through used double-deckers(MCW Metrobus 9.7m M81-M88). 64K passed through Lam Kam Road(one-lane dual-carriageway) and used 10.6m Dennis Tridents, restriction of this route is the length problem, nothing longer than 10.6m. Service 211 runs second-hand Dennis Darts from NWFB with 1 DM Dennis Dart all along, and have received some Enviro500 cameos.
If length and height of bus cannot help, frequency is the next best.
Wishlist:
ADL Enviro400, 500
DesignLine Olymbus :) -> It is an electric bus developed by DesignLine. nearest would be Park Island. :)
What if....
I only mean what if.

That is Hong Kong.
In Singapore context, it is completely different. Non standardisation means higher operating costs, which means lesser profits for the operators, and this means that the shareholders' interests, i.e, their shareholders payouts, will be affected. And we all know who are these shareholders, directly or indirectly.
If I can get a standardised fleet that can accompolish the same job of the non standardised fleet but at a lower operating cost, why should I take the trouble to spend more money for different maintance costs for different batches of different buses? Cost increases means higher fares for commuters. Won't it translate more complains and backlashes in future?
Bus companies in Singapore operates at their expense of earning more profits for their "shareholders", not fulfilling the whims and fancies of the bus fan community.

in fact, notice all of sbst new buses from cdge onwards use alcoa rims alr.

Think they should have a long term contract with ALOCA already. But ALOCA rims makes the buses look modern, lighter and easy to clean compared to conventional ones. And also easy for the mechanics to choose the same rims for all buses to avoid weird combinations, like LO2xes rimes on Mercedes Benz O405s and MAN 16.240 demo, Mercedes Benz OF1417 rims on Leyand Atlanteans, etc.
But the MAN 18.240 HOCL demo still uses the stock rims and I believe the coming Citaros are also using the stock rims as well. Unless SBST decides to use those ALOCA rims that are similar to the Citaro F Cell.

That's the European model and it is LHD version. The picture is just an illustration to show the ALOCA rims on this Citaro.
SBS Transit Citaros should only have 2 doors.

I'd rather standardised to midi, 2x ADD (10.4m), 3x ADD (12m) & SD.

Ha, I just hope that they can bring in more double deckers, Alexander Dennis Enviro 500s, or Enviro 500 bodied Volvo B9TLs.

There is also 12m Volvo B55 Alisa.
SMRT should get something like SBS 997 A, now this bus at service 83. to replace bandy bus. this bus is about 15m? by the the bus life spend left how long?

997A lifespan expiry on 13 Oct 2012.
I think DD bus for sbs is a waste for feeder bus service, a 15m bus like 997A is good for feeder bus, bendy bus is just too long for singapore road. SMRT can try a 15m bus for some of it service, there is no need for new bendy bus. This volvo bus can carry 110 people on board.
a Mercedes-Benz Citaro O 530 L is just good for smrt

a 15m will not be as flexible as a bendy.
If the 15m is good for the roads here, why hasent sbs, sbst, tibs, smrtb brought in more of it for so many years?
I wouldnt be surprised if the 15m has more road restrictions than a dd.
