i tink it will be hanover, given that all svc route info have alr been programmed.
i'd would rather SBS buy OCs or B7Rs instead.
but still not too bad with e citaros.
People are now going for low floor buses already..

So you have any idea how much they charge per LW? such as $50000 for the first ten thousand LW? Just an example

With the period where the SMRT Citaro is on trial, SBS TRANSIT or anybody would be able to make evaluations on the Citaro bus and wholefully decide whether to purchase or not.For SBS TRANSIT to decide to purchase 300 CITAROS, it must've meant that the CITAROS had fulfilled the requirements of SBS TRANSIT. Coupled with the drop of the euro and pound, this made it a perfect time to acquire the CITARO buses.
I dont think its a race over who purchased the best bus. I think it was more of seeing if the bus had fulfilled the bus companies requirements. In this case, I think SMRT had not purchased them because it does not meet the requirements or either waiting till the trial period ends before making an evaluation and coming to a decision to purchase the bus.
Whatever it is, would like to see CITAROS from both SMRT and SBS TRANSIT for the future!
Imagine the whole Orchard road/Bugis flood with Citaro :D
Not a Bad Choice by SBST. Wah Another 300 B9TL Wrights?
Like that total got 450 Wrights Liao

very cheap only... a 10000cc bus road tax is cheaper than a mercedes car of 3000CC. maximum S$850 for half year. need to add 10% to 50% for vehicles over 10 years old. refer to below link, in the past, it was S$5500/year or half year, but due to the ERP, it was reduce....

What happen if those 66 Citaro aren't meant for SMRT but SBST?
Historically, KUB's are acquired at between $360k to $367k. This batch of Citaro's are acquired at the exact same price.

Articulated buses are banned in the roads here since 2004, and TIB 1247G was the last (articulated bus) before they had the UDs re-regoed from TIB 1248 D - 1255H.

U sure? I don't think so... Coz, if they're banned, SMRT would have to sell the bendies away already... Likewise, SMRT already said that they prefer bendy to DD... If u tell me that, LTA controls the number of bendies, maybe I can believe...
Originally posted by Ngweitong:Bro, like said already, some are still unpainted, it is still painting all 66 in progress, it is not to forget SBST just ordered, MB cannot immediately deliver one okay?
So what is your source that SMRT have purchase 66 Citaros? and so where are these SMRT Citaros? at C&C? since when did SMRT announce that they have purchase 66 Citaros?

Not sure banned or not but seems like articulated buses aren't allowed after 2004, Not sure why SBST sold/scrap their superlong though. But we will wait and see, since there's still much time left for the bendies.
For Citaros, hope that it puts on svc 32, 35, 74, 82, 83, 103, 160, 170, 200, 354 and services that replaces B10M Mk3.
THE STRAITS TIMES 7 September 2010
SBS buys 300 step-free buses
BUS operator SBS Transit is adding 600 new buses to its fleet from next year. Of these, 300 are elderly-friendly single-deck buses which do not have steps.
The new Mercedes Citaro buses will have a single-level aisle along the length of the vehicle so the elderly can make their way more easily.
The other bus operator, SMRT, currently has one Citaro bus on trial till next year. It is currently collecting passenger feedback about the bus.
SBS said the 300 stepless buses cost $110 million. It is also buying another 300 double-decker buses from Volvo for $158 million.
The latest purchase brings its total investment in new buses over the last five years to $854 million and is part of the transport company's ongoing fleet renewal programme.
SBS Transit chief executive officer Gan Juay Kiat said the addition of the 600 new buses will mean that two out of every three buses in its fleet of close to 3,000 will be new.
The new buses, however, will not hit the road till the middle of next year. The roll-out of the new buses will take approximately two years.
All the new buses have wheelchair access.
The Transport Ministry wants 40 per cent of public buses to be wheelchair-accessible by the end of this year, and all buses to be so by 2020.

Whatever it is, it's not really meant for SMRT. Don't forget that they might do a last minute job like what happen to our "SBS Transit" OC which is now currently Citson..
