old route so everyone still gets to retain their direct route to Yishun to get to school/work/camp fast.
new route so can go sports complex exercise, swim, play hockey and go makan2 at jalan kayu after work.
it was only a matter of time before a bus service was extended to ply sengkang west way..
wahhh... y never call at the camp gate bus-stops

Yeah quite disappointing... at least if it calls at the pair of interchange stops I can have another alternative to 39 if it gets me waiting very long...

If u frm Sengkang to Camp Gate can take svc 86, if u frm Yishun to Camp Gate can take svc 858. Nth to change

Huh?
I mean when I'm doing a transfer at Jalan Kayu (68111 or 68119) if I take 168 or 858... was expecting to have 85 as a second alternative to 39 at that pair of bus stops ...
O.O they running like hong kong style?

I think e current arrangement is not to affect the AM peak travelling time as far as possible. But moving forward as Sengkang West's BTO projects slowly TOP, it might eventually become full day.
maybe they dont want 85 to compete with 39 n858 (Jln Kayu - Yishun) or 86 (Jln Kayu - SengKang)
note that only 39 and 858 competes with each other (Jln Kayu - Yishun) among the services there

it would only make sense that they deploy 85 as alternatives esp when they have a rival 858. reason why 965 or 969 cant amend to ply j kayu cos its SBST territory. it used to be TIBS territory tho during the TIBS days of 59 103 163 820 821
should be because of the alignment of the two bus stops at jln kayu.

agree. 85 towards punggol still have to pass that bus stop so might as well call it, while 85 towards yishun has to make a small detour.

LTA should amend this anomaly as it will bring better connection for commuters
85 calls at the camp gate bus stop only benefits those going to/from Sengkang West.. its Northern destination (Yishun) is already served by 39 and 858.
even its stops along sengkang west, is mainly for the sports hub, doesent serves much new flats... sengkang central already have 161 and 965 going up north..
so looking at it, SBS dont encourage boarding/alighting of 85 at the pair of stops. the 2 stops along Jalan Kayu is merely a "bonus"... maybe those who want to eat prata will take it

it's e current ongoing BTO projects. You wun see it now, but in 2 - 3 yrs time ppl would begin to need e bus.
In fact Sengkang West would make up most of the remaining 50,000 units tat could be built in Sengkang.

Dun think it's bcos of territory issue, should be due to duplicating issue as 86 ends at Sengkang same as 965 and 39 ends at Tampines same as 969, though I strongly agree that 969 should stop at Jln Kayu, which can shorten the travelling time for commuters to Tampines.
Cheers.

i mean it this way
from Jln Kayu 86 and 103, from Yishun 39 858 stop at the bus stop Before Seletar Camp Gate
to Jln Kayu 86 and 103, to Yishun 39 858 stop at the bus stop After Seletar Camp Gate
I think so far theres no problem for all bus services from the same area to call at the same stop, basically west and southbound will call at After Seletar Camp Gate while east and northbound will call at Before Seletar Camp Gate
However now with sv85 which goes from Jln Kayu to Yishun, there isnt a way to route it through the two stops to satisfy both conditions, so they just decide to skip it
just my 2 cents worth

good point, though by its return trip calling at the Before camp gate stop means it follows the SLE portion i.e. east/westbound.

Perhaps if there are more demand for svc 85 along Sengkang East Way, stopping at the Seletar Camp Gates will be a better option since the pair of bus stops serve as hubs along the northern areas.
