Anyway, SMRT buses are really faster. Base on experience, the speed taken in SMRT buses are usually much quicker than that of SBS. All my snail pace bus experience comes from SBS!
Don't mean to pin point at bus drivers who are doing their job, going by what some of you guys say, it should be the management dai ji alr -.-
You are right, it is definitely a management problem. Failed to carry out frequent running time review of services under charge of Route Groups and Districts.
Not productive !!!
Even the fastest driver in Sv 174 have to be subjected to drive slow pace during thr day time due to the strict rule that BC early for a certain amount of time will get a penalty. Indeed, every service runtime during afternoon around 3-6pm had a long runtime. But the fun kicks in for joyriding when going home at night when the runtime for almost every service gets cut down by more than 10 mins. Some can get cut down as much as 30 mins. Especially at night around 10 plus to 11 plus.
Why can't they leave late for 1-2 mins at the interchange , then on the route can drive a bit faster. Usually BCs would be late for 1 min.
usually the feeder will drive very slow

What I notice is that for SBST they have to tap their card at the time of departure, and by the time the bus leaves the interchange, its already 3 mins late...

Sometimes They Arrive too early at the Interchange Berth and The Ezlink Card Reader will still be Lighted Red. AND YOU CANT Tap ur Card Until The Correct Departure Time.

There's schedule provision for drivers to walk to the bus and pick pax in the interchange at the start of the trip and drive to bus park after alighting pax and walk to the control office at the end of the trip.

I rmb 2 days ago spotting a crowded TIB1123E on 854 enroute to BDK at Khatib MRT station . Then a minute or two later I saw a Habit carrying little pax plying the same route and direction!
With the frequency of 854 being approx. 7-10 mins, I can infer that the BC of TIB1123E shld be quite late..

Comparing SMRT and SBST buses, there are relative more cases of dragging speed with SBST buses.
Wait till you try 176(during offpeak), 184(during off peak), 922 then you will know.
