What is "igornant'?
german for ignorant.

i assume they stand to make a lot more from very short and long distance commuters.
This new distance-based through fares might benefit me somehow, as I am using concession and only need to pay 36 cents for the ride on Service 240.
However, it is quite complicated. I cannot understand what all this is about.
Just help me understand about the new bus fares. Thank you.

Bukit Merah to Bukit Purmei
You take 131/275 vs you take 123
definitely will be different fares
pwned.
IMo, i feel that its abit too ex if you are travelling on short distances
Will it affect student concession rates?

some ppl have worked out that this is actually not an decrease in fares but the opposite

No. Absolutely not.

Yes, absolute will. Because, the monthly concession pass has increased, from $50 to $52, for teritary BUS only concession.

Somehow, i suppose many would still prefer a comfortable ride than to a cheaper ride ...
paiseh i added the mileage wrongly. new fare is 10¢ more expensive actually.
call me skeptical if you want.
dont they have to answer to shareholders if the cut leads to lower revenue.
they are making the short and long distance travellers cover the cost of those in between.
Wahaha, i think i shall stick to my nice 52 with confirmed seats then
This will surely mean higher revenues for SMRT and SBS (due to more transfers), but the thing is, will higher revenues mean that they will have higher profits???

i think the whole idea is cutting down on long distance buses. it will save them a lot of overheads.

Maximum allowable transfers from 3 to 5. i.e. total 6 bus/train rides within 2 hours of 1st boarding.
dont think this is an improvement, but a neccessity.. with their highly touted "hub-n-spoke" system...
maybe the target is to keep all journeys within 6 bus/trains **horrors**

Means they are already planning for passengers who have to make multiple transfers up to 5 times in a journey. Wonder if that is called seamless transfer... Or is it ridiculously inconvenient?
seamless transfer is not about reduced fares leh. hello PTC, this is not what we want.
it's about fast transfer, i-keep-moving-and-not-waiting theory.
sometimes, i make a quick trip to AMK hub:
example, from AMK ave 3 (near Serangoon North) to AMK MRT, take 74 is 69cts. I take a trip back within transfer time, taking 25 (+19cts). total is 88cts rpund trip.
new distance fare will be about 6.2km = $1.01 (15% increase)
what about services like 112, 155, 163 where many stops share the same fare stage? (8 stops shares same fare stage for 155)

the required fare would be determined by distance which is determined by number of fare stages....

well, you'll be surprised how unmatched fare stages are to actual mileage... we'll see when the new guides get uploaded on TL website...
hi guys
if i take a feeder service and a truck service, how should i calculate the fare under the new fare system?
just count the distance. for feeder, chargeable distance is capped at 3.2km.
so like the fare for trunk is straight away add on to the $0.71 feeder fare?
