Wow they finally fined 857. I'm not surprised at all. Given that they refuse to deploy weekday bendies on this service it comes as no surprise why the frequency can be screwed up. Loading is so high as this is the only route linking town to Yishun fastest, but I cannot comprehend why WLDEP refuses to deploy weekday bendies. Weekend bendies were meant for the weekend crowd, but I find weekend bendies more un-utilised as compared to the loadings during weekdays. I once waited 25 mins during evening peak at SOTA and 3 packed 857s came together. It says alot about it's demand during critical hours. A bendy would safely take care of that.As a Yishun resident myself, I don't take the train to town unless it's urgent because Toa Payoh and southbound thereafter is a packed nightmare. I can choose 171 or 857 but 171 is seriously too long to town. So 857 is my only choice, and many other Yishun folks would take that service too. 45 mins to town, who wouldn't want that?
Another thing is that this service is a loop service, given that CTE may jam once in a while it affects the return direction's frequency. I hope they consider making 857 a bi-directional service so as to cut down on the irregular frequency in the return direciton.
Time to wake up WLDEP. Alot of WLDEP services don't need so many bendies. 857 needs them more.

They started deploying 2 weeks ago on weekdays S-shift slot.

If 857 needs them more, what about the rest?
961 should be considered though
960,962,963,964 cannot cut down, due to the areas that they go by, 969 can consider cutting down, since i don't see any of them from the w'lands side
irregular frequency... i think they should have one or two outside schedule S1 buses from wldep parked at yishun interchange for standby.

Actually the bendies for 962 has been cut quite drastically over the years. One thing I don't understand is that many services have their numbers of bendies cut, e.g 856, 859, 960, but it seems that somehow the "cuts" have hardly benefitted any services at all.
Where have the bendies gone?

in my opinion, the bendies shouldn't be cut for svc 960 as the demand is there..
To meet the QoS, the bendies were replaced with rigids running at a better frequency, even though the changes may be marginal. Service 912 is another good example.
And because QoS doesnt really affect much of weekend operations, the perm bendies like 1233X and 1234T return to 962 only on those two days lol.
agree with the more rigids theory, but SMRT must expand their fleet if they want to tahan. and bendies must be reallocated to another service where it can help out better (if not it's a waste of resources) as it is useful in "mopping" the crowds away from a single stop with a lot of pax quickly.
The only bendy I know which is weekend perm 857 is 1032J which I think is not enough, should deploy more of them to Sevice 857

962 should have cut,856 and 960 can't, while 859 is during the weekends, so can't comment much, and don't see the need there, it is barely packed, even with a bendy

Even though 1032J is the only weekend perm that did 857 on the weekend, 851T 1106E*,1226S* and a couple of bendies did 857 during weekends
* spotted on the same day

To Singapore Airshow....IMO, that one was a fantastic overkill.

That was jia laut, the bus condition of the bendy buses were atrocious, at least the one I was sitting, 1165. poor air-conditioning, seats stink , parts of the interior falling apart .
We all must not forget its April, so April's fool is still counted, what a joke this PTC is. Anyway, if you look at the whole picture, they are all under one group, self praising is the phrase to describe it.

Do you know what are you talking?
If you are still that hermit crab who is watching 969 from woodlands, I think it is time to go out of the area to Tampines to observe the queue for 969 during peak hours. Even a bendy cannot fetch the entire long queue of people.
Before you make such an assumption, find out the actual fact. Stop jumping to conclusions.

I saw bendies from the AM side, woodlands NOT really that much.
By the way, i did took 969 from Tampines straight to W'lands before, saw the crowd rate before, it's super packed, sometimes not. k? you don't have to tell me all this, i can tell, i'm not an idiot

Since you already said that the crowd is super pack, then in the first place why you said that 969 should consider cutting down?? You sure you know what you are talking about??

You are not talking sense.
If you seldom see WL bendies on 969, does that mean 969 don't need bendies? Does that also mean 969 can only have bendies from AM side?
You don't have to argue, because you are not clear about 969's demand!

1220H and 1094E are the ones i saw before, from AMK, but from W'lands side, not sure

2nd, i don't plan to phrase it that way, if you think i am, so be it, and took 783G last year, saw how packed it is, packed till i can't find a place to sit.
Much as i don't go to tampines everytime, it is going to be packed during the weekends (for 969), weekdays wise, only PHs and stuff, they require bendies, this i understand. i've ever stuffed with the crowd before when i took 969, even with a bendy before, it is 'just nice' as there's only space for me and my friend, just to let you know

You don't have to explain your theories here.
You have yet to explain the reason why should WL reduce the number of bendies on 969 just because you see less of them. Don't run away from what you have said.

1 or less doesn't kill that much do they? Even if WL doesnt, AM will still chip in anyway
anyway, bendies on 969 always hop around on other services, might aswell cut one of them

Look at the big picture boy.
If it does not matter removing one of the bendies from 969, SMRT would have done so. And why must WL give up one bendy slot and let AM take over?
Deployments are based on demand at certain areas at certain timings. Wouldn't it be a waste if you deploy a bendy to run a trip during peak hours and the number of passengers doesn't reach the capacity? it is not as easy as you say.
And if you say 969 bendies always hop on other services, SMRT would always try to make sure the bendy slot has to be deployed with a bendy bus whenever possible.
What you have said is very irresponsible because you have never handled such situations before!
