The issue is, some bus routes if it's cut it's like striking a hornet's nest.
Like from Toa Payoh to UniSIM/ NP or NUS. Are u going to tell ppl at NUS to go to Clementi to squeeze onto 96?

Public transport is supposed to serve the public, not the agenda for certain group of people. Guess the kind of selfish comment of changing mindsets will, like said earlier, deter more from taking public transport because of all these kind of dumb ideas.
First thought that went through my mind when I saw "change mindset" is SMLJ.
Its basically saying its my bloody fault the bus route is more than 20km. (because I demand for it?)

161 is definitely a no-no....if LTA cuts that, I think they must be nuts.
NO. They will never cut service 147!!!
ironically 147 is saved from NEL rationalisation.
If it was never extended to Hougang, happily left at Potong Pasir it might have been cut nong ago.
Beats me why some at Potong Pasir curse abt loss of 147, blaming it on e MIWs.

Why? I think the portion on Serangoon to Boon Keng is quite duplicate NEL.
i can foresee my friends going...

I thought Potong Pasir only got 142 inside since long ago?

Cutting that portion means that I have 1 less service to get to school. That SUCKS.
147 is a prime candidate to me...
And I bet my mum will wail.

O i see, school? u Monfort Sec lol?

83 & 147 merged to form today's 147
147: Potong Pasir - Jurong East
83: Punggol Rd End - New Bridge Rd

In the old days there was Potong Pasir Terminal. Service 142 and 147. That time service 142 starts from Potong Pasir Terminal and loops at Toa Payoh and service 147 used to ply from Potong Pasir to Jurong East.

Not gonna reveal here.
Originally posted by Samuel Lee:The main reason is only the fares, where this mentality of transfers and transfer benefits the most to students who buy monthly concession, which is worth the money for any people below tertiary (Unless your house and school far far one like stay in Bedok / Marine Parade and study in RP or NP or maybe SP, then exception). The $98 only applicable on SBST bus, so may not benefit all adults. NS's concession hard to say, becoz I yet to been through it.
1. not every student here buy a concession pass just to bus-hop
2. omnibus operators will not incur a loss anyway, under the current or the new fare regime
3. we can easily implement a monthly all-you-can-eat pass like the EZ-Link SeasonPass.

What? And then 83 was withdrawn and resume in the old Punggol 家 ?
If the govt keeps looking at figures as they're doing now, I would be more than willing to give up the Citaro to keep these services.
On one hand they're quick to point out the fleets have never looked better and served PIWs better, on the other hand, they want the PIWs to transfer with us.

Maybe 151 gets cut-back to Toa Payoh and some other service replaces the Toa Payoh to Hougang sector?

mmm. but there's ppl at Macpherson who needs to transfer bus at Whitley Rd leh unless there's direct bus service.
Also leaving 154 solely at Macpherson - Clementi Rd might warrant 100% ADD fleet

reuse the number. 82 and 83 had its glory days connecting Punggol Rd End to the city.

Dunno how 82 got cut. End up even bo connecting bus at Boon Keng to Golden Mile

wanted to say 154 but you edited it out.
well, currently even on weekday nights, Sv 154 DD's are relatively empty. if 151 really gets the cut, probably adding S shifts on Sv 154 will help. or people will gravitate towards transferring at toa payoh with Sv 8 and Sv 90, since it guarantees them a seat.

at least the return leg of Sv 90 got use for it...
anyway it's just my suggestion based on your idea of connecting Toa Payoh and NUS.
