168?
168 long distance, but got short fare stages; its even shorter than intra-town/townlink svc lol..
Add on SMRT long haul services like 61, 67 and 167.
But service 63 still quite ok leh...
full list
SBS: 2, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 14e, 16, 21, 24, 27, 28, 30, 30e, 31, 32, 33, 36, 39, 43, 45, 48, 51, 52, 53, 57, 59, 65, 66, 70, 74, 74e, 80, 88, 89, 89e, 93, 97, 97e, 100, 105, 132, 143, 147, 151, 151e, 154, 156, 157, 161, 165, 166, 168, 170, 174, 174e, 175, 182, 196, 197, 502, 506, 518
SMRT: 61, 67, 75, 167, 169, 171, 176, 178, 187, 190, 851, 852, 853C, 854, 855, 857, 858, 960, 961, 963, 965, 966, 969, 970, 980, 985
Ironically 63 is at borderline.
I believe that if bus services travelling on TPE like 39, 85, 161, 168, 858, 965, 969 are going to be cut, there will surely be lots of complaints by commuters.
Sv 85 clocks 16km.
But there are certain bus makes no sense to chop off:
They are:
966, 985, 75, 36, 48, 518, 502 and 506.
Reason:
966 and 985 mainly is East - (North) West cross province bus with majority of the route in Expressway (PIE and BKE as well for 966)
75 -- Mainly serves Kim Seng area to Orchard then Ulu Pandan / Bukit Timah (Which is quite Ulu and the usage not high) then end at BPJ
36 and 48 -- Actually, 36 cannot be chopped becoz it is a "Airport Express Line" in Airport, Marine Parade then CBD (Suntec, City Hall and Orchard). It is because of its loop nature to have the fare stage so high (966 also btw). Unless Eastern Region Line is ready (By 2020), I see so reason to chop 36.
48 is similar, in the sense that it is quite direct service to BNV, but not loop lah. I see the reason to chop 48 or maybe, shorten the route to Rochor Canal like 23 when the DTL Stage 2 is ready by 2015 because people go Bugis or even Rochor MRT station, take DTL to Botanic Garden then transfer CCL Stage 4 will do.
502, 518 and 506: They are Xpress service with low utilization due to a higher fares although 502 seemed to have more passengers because of the Western area is big and far from CBD nature. So by shortening or axe the route, esp.502 will cause inconvience in Jurong West / Pioneer new town. 506 and 518 serve East Coast and Pasir Ris / Bedok Reservoir people respectively to Suntec. I see no reason to axe, despite it is long.
966 from WDL to Marine Parade easily clocks 28.8km alrdy.
Svs like 162M or 700A dun qualify, same reason as 63 based on distance to looping point n not e whole looping journey.

Somemore 858 and 966 are the 2 services that got the longest farestages in all SMRT services and from Woodlands.

63 Eunos to New Bridge Rd, Geylang Lor 1 to Rumah Tinggi
143 Toa Payoh to Harbourfront, New Bridge Rd to Jurong East
147 Hougang to New Bridge Rd, Queen Street to Clementi
196 Clementi to Geylang Lor 1, Bukit Merah to Bedok
30 can go to Kent Ridge, provided 33 comes over, but the thing it goes through JC, so can't have DDs, which commuters will complain
as for the rest, they are all covered by their respective services

Another issue you can spilit e buses up, but can our terminal handle esp w/ e smaller integrated bus hubs?
Bingo. LTA has to help operators manage the increased capacity needs at bus interchanges and terminals, not reducing the number of lots at all the upgraded interchanges like Sengkang, Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio, Boon Lay and upcoming Serangoon.

Sv 33... I can't find anyway to cut simply because of terminating point issue.

502 demand looks quite high in weekends..

33 cannot drop over to boon lay, provided 33 goes the same way as 30, other than that no

I don't think Express services are included.... they were supposed to encourage single-trip bus rides by having the greatest catchment of heartlanders possible and pushing them straight into town. It's a different class of service altogether.

yeah, but everyone seems engrossed about the route changes....
18.1km. try Google Maps. fare stages are never accurate for distance calculations, but good for comparing between routes.

Geylang Lor 1 to Kent Ridge is duplicating Bedok to Kent Ridge.

yeah lor. SBST kena makan.
I don't get why LTA is literally forcing people to do transfers, using both fare structure and now strong-arm tactics like that.
Are the scholars up there stupid or what?
Have they considered that waiting for their stupid buses and trains adds to the bloody travel time?
This is dumb.
I'm already paying more for taking long-haul rides sometimes because the bloody trains have no seats, and now they're telling me my mind-set has to change??
This....is really the result of "cheng-hu knows best (as if)" mentality with its roots lying in the political structure here.

The main reason is only the fares, where this mentality of transfers and transfer benefits the most to students who buy monthly concession, which is worth the money for any people below tertiary (Unless your house and school far far one like stay in Bedok / Marine Parade and study in RP or NP or maybe SP, then exception). The $98 only applicable on SBST bus, so may not benefit all adults. NS's concession hard to say, becoz I yet to been through it.

In the end, the cycle goes back again. People would rather drive their own private transport as they have to do more transfers, pay more fares and have to squeeze more in the stupid overcrowding trains.
Public transport is supposed to serve the public, not the agenda for certain group of people. Guess the kind of selfish comment of changing mindsets will, like said earlier, deter more from taking public transport because of all these kind of dumb ideas.

By the way, the fare structure is going to change soon, so lets wait and see.
