11 & 62 merge better. Current 62 is like route to nowhere with its looping point when every other route ends @ Geylang Fringe.

Agreed. Tokyo's subway coverage is unparalleled. With the Fukutoshin Line, every road inside the "Yamanote Ring" that can be dug is dug for subway.
But the investment on subway is worth it for them because of the immense flow of passengers within and also into and out of Tokyo everyday. We can never reach the kind of coverage required given our population size without paying too much and underutilizing them, so it might still be more economical to have buses plying like they are now, and not as feeders from major stations like Tokyo has.
Singapore's problem with subway is that the ground is unstable for large-scale tunnelling. Don't forget the Nicoll Hwy collapse and the sinking of Hock Kee House and SGN estate ground movements.

But 175 ends @ Geylang Fringe, as well as several SMB routes.

Hock Kee House is typical case as like some other HDB blocks tat kena SERS over ground issues. Dun forget the piling technology back in the 1960s and early 1970s are relatively different and probably another fact they didn't fill e swamps properly.
Nicoll Highway was they wanted cheap and want fast.
In any case, we can't be building MRT forever because we need space for underground usage.

Whether it loops or ends there it makes no difference. No doubt it could have made Sv 62 more efficient if it's made bi directional service.

If this is the case I also feel the same for service 24 too. It duplicates service 22 from AMK to MacPherson (except for the Serangoon MRT part) and also parallel along the CCL and EWL lines. At most service 24 might cutback to Bedok (becoming the former service 34 route).Whereas service 22 will remain its route as where it is.
BDK to CGA already covered by MRT. It was for that reason 34 was chopped and 506 shortened back to BDK.
Expect to see EUN filling up as a dumping ground for some CCL-affected route.

That's why I don't quite agree with having DTL east wing at all.

My knowledge is simply some bus routes would be kept as it is. Simply there might be ppl who would rather take 24 to return home if they happen to stay at Haig Rd tat side.
Gotta take into consideration of e elderly.

Simply Singaporeans wants MRT ma, to raise their property prices ma.
They forgot end up who pay more property tax and who earns more. Tat's why our MRT dun need BOT

Agree with tt...
sv62 bunching up every evening... 15mins for a bus then 3 empty buses behind the 1st one...
could tfr 1/2 buses to sv147 to downroute from Pearl Centre coz load is heavy during 1800 - 1845hrs...

Yeah, give 147 one Trident. Lovely idea.
