$15 more plus less variable component. Not to mention more irk from non-local BC's about the gap between them and locals, even if there are few who are locally employed.

I think to attract more Singaporeans to this profession, the take home pay should be at least SGD 2000 now. Pay that are below this level will still be very hard to attract Singaporeans, especially now when Singaporeans are more educated, the cost of living has increased significantly over the years and in future, with this year's inflation rate to be around 3 to 4%.
Moreover, those not so fortunate with better education, e.g. O levels, might have better alternatives now that gives them a better pay structure, like property agents and financial consultants.
So I'm not very sure how effective that this pay increase will work to attract more Singaporeans. It seems an easy job for some, sitting in an air conditioned bus and driving around, but the number of trips and the long working hours can be tiring.
