Its clear that the Singapore Public Transport Network is going from good to bad to worse. My above statement is unrelated with bus fleets please for those who are shallow.
Anyway, mods might wanna rename this thread to Lay-up and redeployment of SBST Dennis Darts

I tink the bolded part obviously only applies to buses as they r only screwing up the bus system rapidly. It dosent apply to the train system at all imo since they ony improving the train system everytime.

However, For trains, it sometimes require interchanging at a certain station while you could actually directly take a bus there. That's the only point why the bus system has an advantage over the train system.

Ya.Train can nvr take u to exactly where u wanna go unless u live beside the station. If u live all the way inside or got no MRT there, the only option u have is bus wat.Tats y buses always win over MRT no matter wat in tis situation.

Not really. The rail system is getting more crowded and more commuters are encouraged to squeeze and also by taking away more seats to squeeze more people and don't forget, Circle Line only has four carriages for the trains.
That's why I don't give a crap about public transport anymore, if they are taking away this flexibility and alternatives, to cope the increasing demands and population in future. Hong Kong public transport is still better with a good mix of buses and rails, with rails coping the main populated areas and the buses serving the rest while provide direct links as well. No point building so many expensive rail lines everywhere, especially in small cities like Hong Kong and Singapore. Because commuters are screwed up paying more and more for an inflexible system.

Correction, Circle Line trains have 3 cars, not 4 cars.

Thing is, removing 1/2 e seats dun solve e problem in the long run. At the end of the day no matter how much more MRT line they're building, NSL & EWL is going to be choked or get worst w/ more interchanges up.
There's only 1 MRT line to serve Orchard, and will always be.
As for buses, build 1 bus int only enough for today. wat abt for tml? Like now special express svs from heartlands to Sentosa?

in the future i think the distance between two stations will be less then 1km...bus will not be needed and sitting down is not possible:(

If build like that on EWL, getting frm PSR to JKN need 2+ hr

Ala Paris?
Trains stations are so very near to each other.

Then you will see people driving.

thing is, it would make e MRT very costly and inefficient.
MRT is meant for fast and serving heavy corridor.
There's also a limit onto how many MRT lines is reasonable taking into consideration the transfer issues and built up areas like Orchard might not be able to take in another MRT line
with tamp to pioneer taking 57/58mins, i'm already driving to sch daily with $3/pax carpooling with friends.
92 is using standard vehicles to meet the demand, since it can get toppling full like evening 78,183
Do u think 42 will use a small, maybe comfort delgro livery small bus like how 825 downsize from standard TIBS bus to the cityplus, green 30 seaters?

think 42 will continue using the regular 12m guys though the load doesn't really justify it - for the lack of any better alternatives.

If the MRT system continues to expand. There wouldn't be a need for trunk services and more feeder services would be introduced.

My question is..
Where are u going to find all the places to terminate all these buses ?

Theres a church that will bump up abit of load on weekends.
Not forgetting the primary school is helping the load as well.
If they were clever enough, perhaps by extending the service to loop at Marine Parade might help to bump up the load abit. (:

And trust me, the vaccum left by the unnecessary cancellation of trunk services will be filled up by cars. There were 925,518 vehicles on the road as of December, if you want it to reach 1 million within 2 years, you can go ahead and cut bus services in the way you like.

Eh Eh. Relax. I did consider your above options. I didn't say cancelling all of the trunk services. I was trying to say reducing trunk services.
As for the terminals. Perhaps an few addition for the heartlands.
only problem w/ 42 is the roadside parking issue.
As for Sv 92, I've encountered once along Moonbeam Walk

The issue is the cost hence MRT can't be serving everywhere either.
Another thing is I've mentioned, as more MRT lines are up, chances are EWL & NSL are going to be more packed. Imagine removing Svs like 22 & 24 and forcing ppl at Paya Lebar to take CCL and squeeze w/ ppl at Bishan en-route AMK.
There's a limit the MRT can take.
