So long MKIIIs, will miss them.
MKIII is like one of the silent icons of the 90s....because of sheer number, its hard not to be able find old photos of it, yet because of its dated looks, is seldom the first choice by its operator or people in general for advertising/posing etc.
But I'll appreciate the fact that it was the first AC B10M and a terrifically reliable bus.....virtually indestructible.

I gotta feeling that thees MK4s would get another 2 years extension next year based on the trend nowdays.
Hope SBST can consider another batch of 300 Citaros to replace the MK4s (Euro 1s) in 2-3 years time...

No choice, the Citaros are rolling out rather fast. So the 3 depots (BB/BN/HG) have to quickly clear off the MK3s in order to make way for the new Citaros.
Yep! The Mk3s were great but some had terrible air conditioning! Didn't manage to take many with loud Voith gearboxes like 727M.
SBS639J & SBS656J are still alive. 656J on 293 & 639J on 197 (proberly the last time it will do 197)
SBS651Y (BN SP) is still alive and kicking today on Service 29. Not yet taken off the roads. Onemotoring still shows it's laid up though.

uniquely BNDEP.... they also have 4 Citaros and 3 Wrights laid up till now, but been on service everyday... wonder whether there is insurance coverage or not, if the bus kenna accident?

I'm not sure what were they thinking with the Wrights & Citaros, but i guess for the Mk3s, there wouldn't be much of a difference if it met with an accident now? They would probably just scrap the bus if it does meet with an accident? Not much of a diff considering there's just 1+ month more to its lifespan of 19 years.

I still remember the casse of SBS693B 2 years ago. This bus was officially deregistered without extension yet it continued to appear on service 32 for a few days even though it was deregged...

not just the lifespan issue... lay up mean no road tax paid.. so SBST committing offense? most likely no insurance coverage.. so any injury, passengers will claim SBST directly... lots of fingers pointing if really got into accidents. Even if the lay up MK3 went on service and got into accidents on its last day, sure got lots of issue one..

Oh wow, i thought it was only with regards to insurance payout the company (SBST) will receive if the bus was destroyed. Didn't know about the passenger side. Guess we need someone to report~ This is just an accident waiting to happen.
What if...
The MK IIIs are extended?!
Hmm....

Hope that they will be sold. I believe that MK3s can last for many more years ahead if they are properly maintained.
