No thanks, I rather all the MK3s either go to the scrapyard or sell them off. It's already a good riddance of the MK3s at BBDEP side.Seriously HGDEP really got to buck up their standards especially those standards of WAB services and take in more Citaros.
?! MK IIIs can win a citaro anyday... esp JB MK IIIs, lucky my sv16 still ve MK IIIs
yest took 733U on 16 SHIOK!, smooth acceleration, braking, strong aircon unlike toy bus citaro...
look nice outside, crappy engine
Mk III can't compare with the somewhat older CRB, though. The latter are faultless.

Very bad as there are 5 MK3s that are unable to de-register after doing bus services.

Another of my favourite MK3 gone. Last took it on 291 when it was spare.

I remember 3641 on route 352 flying down PSR Dr 3 during my first and last ride on this service in 12/96.
3628 served alongside 3627, 3629, 3631, 3687, 3691, 3692, 3701 & 3702 on route 14. No other route serving West Coast Court had Scanias, so when I saw a CRB-looking front from afar, it had to be a route 14 bus from BNDEP.
3705-3710 did route 32. I used to take them whenever I visited my uncle who lived in River Valley.
Didn't get a chance to board any of the OACs until late '92 when I took 0054 on route 196. This was one of the first Scanias in CLE.
My last ride on a CRB was in 12/05 when I took 0036 and 0047 on route 33 to Central Library and back.
If you talk about which one lasted longer, I have little doubt the MKIII wins hands down.
Its not that I dislike the CRBs, but its mainteinance left much to desire especially close to retirement.
And its depreciation record is the most dismal amongst its contemporaries like the 0405 and the B10Ms, with the most number (for the fleet size) being written off due to a variety of reasons such as fire, accidents, etc.
Refer to SMRT's L113s for further details.
As for the argument over which bus is better, get over it......
Why not just appreciate the buses for what they are and what they can/could? I don't dispute the fact that the MKIII looked dated even for its time, wasn't terribly fast, but you can't deny that the MKIIIs offers better stability at all speeds, has a stiff suspension optimised for the highway, and was built to last. In particular, its engine is known world-wide for its ruggedness. I've also never seen any B10M lock its steering axle under heavy braking unlike many types (the worst being the K230UB) because of the better distribution of weight.
MKIII can tahan on 506 on PIE w/ stability... But it's pretty noisy though.
The Volvo B10M was really a good investment..
But I guess time to move on to look for suitable ADD models... We need DDs again...
Accidents are always the bus driver's fault (80% of them anyway). It can happen to any type of bus, regardless of make or model.
As for the Volvo TD/THD100 series engines, I do not doubt them. Ditto for the Voith transmission units.
The point was that the MKIIIs have been involved in accidents too...but I suppose its the position of the engine that shields it from any damage. If there were any fires, I must not have heard any.
But I do miss the CRBs.
They were like rockets.
Not sure if you guys have seen this, but I thought this was really nice to watch and listen to:
10.25m Volvo B10M-55 MKIII (ZF4) accelerating to 100km/h
As typical of the slow and steady MKIII.
If the driver is to be believed, this example is fitted with the THD102KB, which is more powerful than the THD102KF as well.
And:
This is close to what we had in Singapore minus the speed-limitor.

I totally disagree with you about Citaro, they are good replacements for the mark IIIs, but I will respect your opinion, not going to make any arguments with you. The Mark IIIs have to go, and in my opinion, they are the worst Volvo brand to grace on the roads. Never like this bus model.
then i'm actually hoping the citaros die faster than kubs. LOL

See, Charles is just as enlightened as buses[in]gapore!
Charles must join buses[in]gapore! who has been consistently writing in to corpcomms and senior mgmt to demand for full Wright and full Citaro fleet! Nothing less! Anything less is a ripoff to commuters!

Cannot say like this. Charles is just showing - his passions - for - our transport -
In that case I am the most enlightened one here as I only want full Scania fleet for both operators.
What I think was a waste would be the Habit-bodied L94UB not coming to SG. THese are the sexiest buses ever built.
