After wayang for two months, business trip to San Francisco
SINGAPORE: Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Lui Tuck Yew, will be leading the Singapore delegation to two meetings on transport and energy by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in San Francisco.
The Joint APEC Transportation and Energy Ministerial Conference and the 7th APEC Transportation Ministerial Meeting take place from September 12 to 14.
The APEC Transportation and Energy Ministerial Conference will provide a forum for APEC transport and energy ministers to consider initiatives to steer the APEC region towards more energy-efficient, sustainable, and low-carbon transport systems.
At the 7th APEC Transportation Ministerial Meeting, the APEC transport ministers will discuss ways to chart policies to foster closer co-operation and enhance development in the transport sector.
The meetings will also explore measures to incorporate the concept of sustainable development in transport systems.
Mr Lui will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, the Land Transport Authority, and the Energy Market Authority.
He will also be meeting his counterparts from the US and other APEC economies at these two meetings

No thanks, I rather all the MK3s either go to the scrapyard or sell them off. It's already a good riddance of the MK3s at BBDEP side.
Seriously HGDEP really got to buck up their standards especially those standards of WAB services and take in more Citaros.
Well that's too bad for you eh?
Cos the other depot's laying up the MKIII except HGDEP. The time will come soon though,
I also dare say the MKIII would find good use as 2nd hand buses. They are so durable! You want them to leave, but the fact was that few other types achieved the same unenviable depreciation record and certainly not on the same scale as the MKIII which number 300....which is no small number. The first MKIII that went to the chops did so because of lifespan limit and not because of accident/fire etc.
And if you don't appreciate it, then I would pay tribute now to the HGDEP folks who have gotten me from point A to B in relative comfort...on Volvos and the MKIIIs. A wonderful job and I've enjoyed my time spent with the MKIIIs.
You feel the MKIII is crappy.
But I believe many here (who take long-haul services like me) would agree with me that the MKIIIs deserve better comments. MKIII ain't as fast, but they certainly haul their loads quietly and with very little trouble.

Realistically you shouldn't expect everyone to appreciate it either. Everyone has different views, both positive and negative views

To each his own.
Sorry.
"appreciation" is different from "mere liking"
If you can't see that, then most probably you can't see "respect" either.

that's true. there are people who won't ever appreciate the MK III buses, and there are some who will.

Just look at the initial comments at the production batch MAN. Do I need to say more?

you might not know that HGDEP currently saves their MK3s now to intake brand new, later-registered Citaros in the next few months; which by then the MK3s would be immediately be depleted as a whole.. would you rather wait for 1 year or less living with the MK3s for a while or live with the Citaros for the next 17(+2 or 3) years in your future life? please be patient in the time being
