Most of the MKIV DMs use the THD101GC.
That's a guess, based on general performance characteristics. And it would appear that a minority are actually fitted with the THD102KF.
Nor is it accurate I guess, to conclude that the Voith MKIVs are all 4 speed types and utilising the THD101GC.
Basically the original 115 strong fleet appears to be quite an oddball with different combinations of engines and gearboxes, although the majority use the THD101GC coupled to the ZF4 gearbox.

- 103 - Volvo B10M Mark IV (DM)
(Due to road problems)- 160 & 170 - Volvo B10M Mark IV (DM3500)
(Due to 'age' and 'OMV' that I have told you, we can't accept K230UBs (or Citaros) on that following routes, until the DM3500's have been de-registered).
care to enlighten me on the road problems that 103 faces?
what about age and OMV prevents K230UBs to be on 160 and 170? operator can choose to deploy any model on those routes as long as it is operationally viable ie. no logistical constraints. so what does age and OMV have to do with anything? all the buses follow the same depreciation schedule anyway, and the first batch of K230UBs will be 4 years old by the time the JB Mk IIIs go off. the Mk IIIs were introduced on 170 in 1999, IIRC and the buses were 6-7 years old at the time.

103 did face road problems at Seletar Aerospace Park. It's just that K230UBs are not strong enough when at Seletar, until 2015.
160 and 170 - Some problems:

15 November 2001. They were 8-9 years old.

160 and 170 - Some problems:
- Queen Street Bus Terminal needs to be modified to allow K230UBs to go in.
- New and fresh buses may get scratched on the first day of operations.
- DM3500 is 10-13 years old as of now. K230UBs is about 4 years old, being that; anyway, this bus may start running in 2012 - 2013 on JB routes.
- It's de-registration date is 2014 - 2017 (may get extended, for the Volvo B10M DM3500s)
- There are Malaysian thieves in Singapore, which amounts to stealing of brand new buses. It may lose 1-10 buses if it does.
Queen St terminal is accessible by K230UBs. there is an employee bus that passes by there.
new and fresh buses getting scratched on first day ops is a moot point. buses are bound to get scrapes and dings anyway, its a matter of time.
if you realise, by putting the DM3500s, which have about 5-7 years of lifespan left on 160 and 170, you would have to undertake the fleet replacement exercise again. isn't that double work? throwing K230UBs early on and leaving them for a longer period would be less hassle. you think registering buses with the Malaysian authorities is that simple ah?

The Mk IIs were 4-5 years old (considerably new) when they placed it on 170 to replace the B57s, so if Mk IIs can, why not the Scanias? Please also think of the amount of paperwork you need to do when you change the equipment on these two routes, and tell me whether you think they are willing to do it twice in a short timeframe.

The last point.
There are also other points -
almost all of the 3 Dec, 8 Dec and 11 Dec batches have been extended for another year except BBDEP's Mark III as of today.
Originally posted by TPS Timothy Mok:There are also other points -
- Taxicabs can only go so far up to Johor Bahru (for Singaporean taxis), and Malaysian taxis is open as oddball type areas (all areas in Singapore & in Malaysia). The Singaporean taxis can't go so far (and impossible) because of driver's headache, driver's tiredness, fuel and taxicab charges.
- 950 - Mercedes-Benz O405 (Hispano OAC). 950 will replace into Hispano OAC with Dennis Lance or Mercedes-Benz O405 (Volgren) or Hino HS3KRK followed by Mercedes-Benz OC500LE or Citaro.
please wake up from your fantasy dreamworld! Malaysian taxis are restricted to ply only to Queen St in Singapore but can go anywhere else in Malaysia, as for Singapore taxis they can pick and drop off at any part of SG but are restricted to 1 location in JB. And the taxi charges are a flat fee so what taxicab charges are there to speak of?!
Scania KUBs on 160/170 would be great indeed.
Anyway, it is unlikely that 950 will have a mixed fleet of different brands. It is just too much trouble.

Put all the Euro 4 Batch 1s there would be the best.

If I remember correctly service 170 was converted to FAC on 25 Nov 2001. That was the day the entire whole fleet change from NAC MK2s to MK3s (as a result many FAC services like 151 had fleet downgrades).
In the past service 170 had fleet change once from Volvo B57s to MK2s, they were done progressively. That was in early 1993.
So how many MK3s are deregistered as of now???
I finally see a fresh BN MKIII, SBS602P, which is running on sv39 tdy. Repainted.

The Mk IIs replaced the B57s wholesale. That was when 170 began accepting farecard payment. The B57s had no ticketing equipment on board, making 170 the last-ever TMO route.
I wonder what were the rego numbers of those B57s on 170, but this is off-topic here.
Svc 170 fleet history: Mercedes OF1413 Soon Chow (TMO) >> Volvo B57 NZMB (TMO) >> Volvo B10M Mk II (NAC) >> Volvo B10M Mk III (FAC)

Most likely the SBS4XXX series since they were mainly based on the West district. SBS3XXX series were based on the East districts, mainly last seen in Bedok and Tampines feeders.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

3xxx ones were BBDEP-based while the 4xxx ones were from BNDEP. The 3xxx ones were retired first in 1995, and the 4xxx ones were used to cover their duties briefly. BDK, TAM and PSR feeders went full CRB fleet during 12/1995 but it wasn't until 3/1996 that Mk IIs started appearing on CLE feeders.

Then how about Hougang feeder services before the MK2s take over???

I remembered HG feeders had Merc OF1417 (Hawke) and Volvo B57 (NZMB) before they were phased out in 1995.

The Mercedes Benz OF1417 doing Hougang feeders should be bodied by NZMB. Seen a few serving the old 97 (Hougang South - Jurong East). They also believe to do Jurong East feeders as well before the NAC Mercedes Benz O405s came in. I'm not sure how many NZMB Mercedes Benz OF1417 SBS acquired that time.
Mercedes Benz OF1417 Hawkes mainly do Ang Mo Kio feeders when the Mercedes Benz OF1413 Soon Chow/Supreme Star were pharsed out. I believed they also do the old Serangoon feeders, 217, 312, 315, 318, as well as Eunos feeders, 382 and 385 before Volvo B10M MK 2s and after that Mercedes Benz O305 replaces them.

I see. Thanks for the clarification.

Hmm... Not so sure about HGDEP. It seemed that HGDEP was the only depot to have both Volvo B57s and Merc OF1417s, the rest only have 1 of a kind. I remembered taking Merc OF1417 NZMB on service 61 in 1993 (cannot be from BBDEP side).
Dun forget that service 97 was also partial JRBP controlled, the OF1417s could be from JRBP side.
