What happens if a bus driver makes a major wrong turn?

I've been taking public transport for pretty much my entire life to get from one place to another in Singapore. And recently I've been wondering what happens if a bus driver makes a wrong turn during a peak hour for example. I guess he would have to try and rectify the problem but what if the turn occurs in a major route like a highway for example, and its nearly impossible to turn, what does he/she do then, and how does he/she handle the angry frequent passengers?
Additional Note: I don't have a driver's license.

As a commuter myself, remembered once when i was quite small, taking svc 293(my darling svc :D) back home. Should be east loop then the BC turned to the west loop directions. The commuters were quite little actually, including me and my mum. So we all just said, uncle turn wrong way liao, so he continued the same direction as svc 3, then turn back to ctrl 1 and continued the way back home.

in 2007 - Illegial U turn at Central 1 (towards st 71) when it suppose to go to St 45in 2008 - Along Tampines Ave 6?, 9 (the svc 27, 72, 168 part) and st 72 lol

What I have experienced:
700A - Malaysian BC misses diverted route to Orchard Road and heads down to Tiong Bahru, BC panicked and crashed into the kerb twice and ended up stopping at a bus stop, waiting to ask his SMRT bus colleagues from 75 and 970.
Other bus drivers couldn't help. Ended up 1 commuter directed the BC to drive to Chinatown and head back to Orchard Road. Bus took 30 minutes more to reach Orchard Road. My friends and I almost missed the movie we booked online, thankfully the movie started late.
171 - Female BC misses exit into Bukit Panjang and stopped in the middle of BKE. Wanted to reverse the bus but found it too dangerous to do so. So she stopped in the middle of the expressway.
Commuter directed her to use Dairy Farm Exit instead and bus turned in via Petir Road back to original route, missing 2 bus stops. Commuters alighting at those two stops had to alight at Petir Road and walk back.
75 - China BC misses right turn at Cashew Road and heads straight. Commuters shouted at BC and BC realise he was driving 75 and not 176. He apologised to commuters and said it was his first time driving the route and he had been driving 176 for the past week. Commuter helped BC to make an illegal U-turn back at The Linear.
What I saw.
171 - Bus completely went off track with new route (Via BKE), driving the bus based on its former route (Mandai). -
16 happening at VS bus stop..at marine parade road, misses a turn into upper east coast road
when i was very young, one TIBS (still TIBS time) rigid go wrong way, make a super big turn 20 minutes, to the junction to just rectify the issue, make me late for some class,....jialat

i remember taking 1049 on 900. bus turned into woodlands ave 5 instead (the 962 route)
i expected him to turn to dr 50 via 912 route then turn back. but astonishingly the off-duty SL on board directed him to do a U turn at the junction. the bus scraped the divider.

There was once where i saw a Svc 291 green plate , from my house turning to the Svc 3 route .
Luckily it reversed into the carpark and turned back to the correct route .
I was surprised that a 291 was reversing into the carpark and realised it took a wrong turn

on 196, driver thought he was driving S16 instead and happily turned inside Stadium Link forgetting he was driving a DD.

Just a week ago. 105 PRC went straight at Lor 4 instead of turning right to Toa Payoh Ctrl. To do it the legal way, he turned to Lor 6 and into the Int and out back to Lor 6, Lor 4 and left turn back to Toa Payoh Ctrl.

Interesting thread. I haven't ridden a bus that did a wrong turn. So, I'm amazed by all the incidents above. I can imagine the stress level of the bus drivers the moment they did a wrong turn.

years ago..took 65 from tampines..the driver turned into the condo Aquarius and have to drive in the roundabout

Also years ago,BC on 136(iirc should be 158E) happily drove straight towards Punggol from Serangoon Gardens,forgetting that he should turn right towards Ang Mo Kio instead...
Ended up he quickly did 3 point turn,and headed back to the turning and turned left.
