Living next to a major road, and a bus-stop, I really hated it when the VSO pulls away from the bus-stop. Especially when I have music on.
That was before the B9TL came, some with the fantastic radiator roar that resembled the MKIV in pattern, but which made the VSO's roar sound like a squeak.
The KUB is easily one of the quietest buses so no complaints from me.
difference in pitch of roar
from my toilet, i can hear all sorts of bus noises.
pretty interesting to hear a vso pull in to the bus stop underneath my block, then right after it leaves, a loud b9 comes along. :D
just yesterday, heard a 161 vo being driven hard. 2nd gear all the way to the engine's max rpm. could hear the gearbox grinding away
Today, I heard frm my friend that many scania vibrates seriously is because of the faulty engine mounting. He recently just replaced one on SBS 8891T.

The VO sounds nauseating when pushed, the worst are those whose lock-ups fail to engage.
The bus is going at 55km/h but the rpm must be hitting 2000rpm.

I totally agree on this point. From what i see, quite alot of 51 B9TL had these 'fantastic radiator' too. I remember once i took a break at Pasir Panjang Road - it was very peaceful and quiet over there... But then, when this particular 'fantastic' B9TL came... it really destroyed peace and serenity at Pasir Panjang. Too fantastic until it had to distrupt all its surroundings.. I must really check out SMB82Z one day; see whether it roars just like SMB41S/B9TLs.

The B9TL was the thing that convinced me I'm never gonna get a house near a major road. Ever!
Heck, the VSO did not even come close to convincing me yet. Can you imagine how much louder the B9TL can get?
Nothing comes close....yet.
Ok, maybe the stupid motorbikes.

hmm the b9tl's and vso's may sound horrible outside, they sound beautiful inside. though some euro iv and eev scanias sound nice outside, most of them, esp the euro iv's, sound disastrous inside. i'd rather a b9tl roar outside.

LOL! But as told RK 2010, some B9TLs which have this fantastic radiator; surprisingly some of them have good pickup and aircon.. But as for me, when im inside the bus, i always have this thinking of 'Loud and vigorous sounding bus = greater speed'.

I don't have to pay $$ to listen to this "fantastic" sound that I do not wish to hear.
This is so great.

oh totally!
juz realised yesterday that there's this CCTV onboard (or something) sticker pasted on the left side beside the bus stopping sign..
seems like all the KUBs have it..

If that is really true, please ask your friend to report it to the company and rectify the problem to all of the buses, and probably do something about the radiator noise of the EURO IVs.

Wonder which staff has a bright idea to suggest this that it can be implemented company-wide..

wonder how much that staff got from his suggestion... haha... think should paste somemore stickers at the last few row of the seats. and also on the top deck of ADD..

but the disadvantage is the sticker can be obvious for ASDs/WSDs, but ADDs/WDDs is not obvious because the sticker is facing to nearside.
SBS 9496U got it

I think most of them knew it but yet to detect which buses are having this problem. BC never report then they dunno.

I think almost all the buses with CCTV have the sticker.
