Swinging around dangerously would only come along if the steering is turned frequently, whether necessarily or not. If the bus swings around dangerously in wet weather then likely its out of control.
Bendy buses used enhanced engines of single decks. It is true that double deckers use enhanced engines of single decks too! (from the VO generation).
I am cutting the technical stuff here cause it would be long.
In my 10 years of taking bendies since moving to Yishun in June 1999 I have not taken a single bendy ride (be it my feeder ride home or trunk rides elsewhere) that had the rear swinging dangerously. I wonder who was the one who came up with such a creative hallucination.

Oui!
For me, I hope SMRT buy new Mercs Citaro to replace the Mercs O405s and Citaro bendies to replace the bendies.

There is one problem though; jack-knifing. There was once at Woodlands where I saw 1032J losing grip on the middle axle and basically the whole front carriage went sideways.
How to jack-knife? Basically, if the front steering axle is in line with the rear axle and the middle joint is 'locked' in its biggest turning position, just a little throttle will send the middle axle skidding sideways. That is how some SLs reverse from HBF interchange when their bus got 'sandwiched' between two bendies.
The other way is like the 1032J example, it was raining and the road is very wet. When the joint is 'locked' in its biggest turning position and the steering axle is still demanding more turn, the throttle is pressed and the middle axle will just skid outwards, making the bus hard to control for a moment. Without surprise, the turn is where 911 meets 858...

Their Citaro Gs belonged to one of the first batches of Citaro Gs, which are quite 'old' now. Its older than our B9s. The first batches of Citaro Gs were sadly, plagued with the same engine fuel leakage problem. This problem has since been solved and the Citaro G MKII has been released with a facelift and some other features. There isnt such problem anymore.
no way...i luv smrt bendies, i wonder, is there a 17m bendy bus ??

not 19.5 la, 19m only, asia's longest bus went to nz le
Hope LTA don't ban bendy buses, already very sad when the SBS Transit sold the Volvo B10MA and MBO405G to NZ(Should have sold them to SMRT).Hope SBS Transit can buy these bendies back.

You've got a point there, bendies are safe enough. Never in the 9 years that I have taken an articulated bus have I seen such an issue, even in the best of December/January monsoons 184 doesn't go jacknifing on Clementi avenue 2/5. Honestly, I cannot begin to imagine what it would be like taking only rigid 67s everyday, given that the current mix of rigid and articulated buses is barely enough to cope with heavy traffic along Bukit Timah Road.
Secretly I was wishing that we would even have the 23m long bi-articulated buses from Van Hool . With a capacity of up to 200 people that would be enough to swallow the existing commuters without problems, though that would probably be way too long to fit into existing bus stops.
Does anyone know what is the cause of the frequent O405G(not the Citaro G) fires, especially the later Habit bodied examples? I understand that they are more highly rated (295 vs 280 hp) than the earlier Hispano bodied examples, is that the reason or is it another ill-fitting fuel line issue that plagues these chariots of fire?
Ok. Here's the NEW NEW, first Mercs Citaro bendy in Japan. Just arrived to serve their special svc. Look carefully at the road and the bendy bus colour.
HOT PINK.

Introduced to service December 2007. 4 units (registration from 相模230 1001 to 相模230 1004), fleet number 201 to 204. The first articulated buses bought by them are the Neoplan N4421 Centroliner 18-meter articulated buses (4 units) which came in 2005.

which is the Volvo B10MA, asia's longest bus(19m), and the Mercedes Benz O405GN bodied by Volgren. Both of them went to New Zeland and was sold due to large number of road space the bus is occupying and scared might cause inconvience, esp with 19m bus, sure scared.Rmb there was a picture on the B10MA in NZ, forgotten link le.
My friend stays in Simei, who loves the two bendies like crazy, ask his mum to wait for bendy, bendy, bendy, then all the non-bendies go off le, bendy one already. Ok board the bus. Even when it went for svc 18 he oso liddat. Must wait for bendy, bendy. But I did not get to sit on both the bendies. Sad it went for NZ just like that.

Pls don't worry abt it, it is having a great time over there
Still remember the interior of those 2 bendies, used to take them often on service 18 until one day, they were not present and i was told that they were sold
Anyway, is there any photo for SBS999U in NZ?(It is operated by the same company which took in SBS998Y) Can't seem to find one.

you can find it in the SBS998Y picture. It's just beside em'
Bendies should be put on services that do not go into the City Area. Double deckers should be used instead for services with heavy loading and going into the City Area.
