I think they wanna profit because the venue of the airshow is not even served by basic bus services. Give the visitors a run for their money.

Temporary Bus Diversion on 15 and 16 Feb 2008 due to Chingay Parade

ROAD CLOSURE ON SUNDAY
EU TONG SEN ST and NEW BRIDGE ROAD will be closed from 3pm on Sunday to midnight because of a celebration to mark the 15th day of Chinese New Year.
Fifteen SBS Transit services will be diverted because of the Chinatown Yuan Xiao Celebrations.
They are: 2, 12, 33, 54, 63, 80, 124, 143, 145, 147, 166, 197, CT8, CT18 and CT28.
West bound services will use Upper Pickering Street, South Bridge Road, Neil Rd and Kreta Ayer Rd. Those headed east will use Outram Rd, Chin Swee Rd & Havelock Rd.
Passengers can board the affected buses at bus stops along the diverted routes. SBST will also deploy 20 traffic inspectors to help passengers along diverted routes.

There will be a Chingay float convoy within Bishan Toa Payoh GRC on Saturday 23rd Feb 08.
Below are certain locations that the floats will pass through:
1. Bishan CC - 1830-1915hrs
2. Bishan St 22 Blk 282 - 1800-2000hrs
3. Thomson CC - 1945-2015hrs
4. Toa Payoh Lor 6 Blk 1 & 2 - 2000-2130hrs
5. Toa Payoh Central Amphitheatre - 2030-2130hrs
Route:
Bishan St 13 (Opp Bishan Int), Bishan St 12, St 11, St 13, St 14, St 22, Sin Ming Ave, Upp Thomson Rd, Braddell Rd, Toa Payoh Lor 6, Lor 2, Lor 1, Lor 4, Toa Payoh Central.Bus services will be affected due to the temp road blocks during the show

Yeah. It is a bit strange to use Jurong East. Upper Bt Timah and Clementi road is ideal to hit AYE.

yes but often taken over by private buses & some other vehicles
Jam 1 > jam by vehicles turning left to JE St 11
Jam 2 > jam by vehicles turning into IBP & going to AYE(Keppel[left turn]/Tuas[right turn]) aft JE St 11
