17 Feb 2006, FridayRoad closures during airshowCOME next week, some major roads will be closed for the Asian Aerospace 2006 opening ceremony dinner and the exhibition.
On Monday, Nicoll Highway between Republic Avenue and Bras Basah Road will be closed from 5pm to midnight. This includes stretches of Raffles Boulevard and Temasek Boulevard. Only Police vehicles, emergency vehicles and vehicles with approved labels will be allowed in.
Members of the public are advised to avoid using private transport to get to Suntec City as congestion is expected around the area. Alternative routes proposed are via Mountbatten Road, Fort Road, Rochor Road, Maxwell Road and Ophir Road. Parking restrictions around the area will be enforced and offending vehicles will be towed away.
During the Feb 21-26 show, Telok Paku Road, Nicoll Drive and part of Changi Coast Road will be closed to traffic from 5.30am to 6.30pm daily.
Motorists going to Changi Airfreight Centre are advised to travel by Xilin Avenue and the ECP into Changi Coast Road. Visitors will be checked at the exhibition site and there are restrictions on photography in some areas. Bus services for visitors are available from Singapore Expo and Pasir Ris bus interchange.
All public car parks along Nicoll Drive and the car park behind Block 1 Changi Village will also be closed during the event. — CNA
