dono... but like.. buses quite full all the way towards Bedok, den frm there onwards to upp east coast rd, empty.Originally posted by kc_leung:Bedok (North, South, Reservoir) don't count?
The actual problem is that Upp East Coast terminal is right in the middle of private housing, and those private house owners aren't exactly the frequent bus-riding type.Originally posted by sinicker:dono... but like.. buses quite full all the way towards Bedok, den frm there onwards to upp east coast rd, empty.
UEC terminus more for 7 SIB/3 Guards servicemen's benefit.Originally posted by kc_leung:I think UEC has the potential to be a secondary interchange to relieve the congested Bedok Int - but only when there's a shuttle between the 2. (219 and 14 don't count)
It is entirely possible. Just have to try the route out during peak hours..Originally posted by sinicker:do you guys think that 59 would be faster frm tamp-bishan than the train?
I dare say before testing: Yes. It might end up like sv 25 vs. MRT.Originally posted by sinicker:do you guys think that 59 would be faster frm tamp-bishan than the train?
Why not count 14 and 229 especially if 229 is much direct, is it because both are too twisting, one via tanah merah, other via chai chee, respectively?Originally posted by kc_leung:The actual problem is that Upp East Coast terminal is right in the middle of private housing, and those private house owners aren't exactly the frequent bus-riding type.

And that the UEC initially was to cope with the closure of MPBT (into Victoria School), and to resettle 13 and 853c essentially(196 resettled into Bedok), but then SBST took advantage of the space of UEC for such new svcs, incld 48.Originally posted by kc_leung:The actual problem is that Upp East Coast terminal is right in the middle of private housing, and those private house owners aren't exactly the frequent bus-riding type.

With the new svc 43, there will be no more berthsOriginally posted by SGEMP:And that the UEC initially was to cope with the closure of MPBT (into Victoria School), and to resettle 13 and 853c essentially(196 resettled into Bedok), but then SBST took advantage of the space of UEC for such new svcs, incld 48.
When SBST introduced 48 to operate out of UEC, it showed they were capable of making 16 terminate there.Originally posted by SGEMP:And that the UEC initially was to cope with the closure of MPBT (into Victoria School), and to resettle 13 and 853c essentially(196 resettled into Bedok), but then SBST took advantage of the space of UEC for such new svcs, incld 48.
I, as a frequent 229 and 14 user, don't think it's too twisting...the twisting part for 229 is less than 5 min, and twisting part for 14 variesOriginally posted by SGEMP:Why not count 14 and 229 especially if 229 is much direct, is it because both are too twisting, one via tanah merah, other via chai chee, respectively?
So you expect all buses there to go to UEC? UEC ter doesn't have so much space and berths...Originally posted by iveco:When SBST introduced 48 to operate out of UEC, it showed they were capable of making 16 terminate there.
I doesn't make much sense introducing new routes from UEC while the former MRP ones continue to loop at Mandarin Gardens.
Why don't SBST expand the UEC instead?Originally posted by musli_bar:So you expect all buses there to go to UEC? UEC ter doesn't have so much space and berths...
Oops...Originally posted by musli_bar:It's 229 now
Svc 229 is currently from Bedok – Bedok Sth Rd, not from Bedok – Chai Chee Dr. The current svc 229 was renumbered from 219.Originally posted by musli_bar:It's 229 now
229 doesn't stop anywhere near UEC at all. ("near" according to ordinary people's standard, not 3 Guards standard. )Originally posted by SGEMP:Why not count 14 and 229 especially if 229 is much direct, is it because both are too twisting, one via tanah merah, other via chai chee, respectively?
There's more than enough space for more buses coz at any 1 time, there's only 1 sv48 & 2 sv13 buses parking there. i believe that there will only be 1 sv43 parking there before it returns to Punggol.Originally posted by musli_bar:With the new svc 43, there will be no more berths
So how many berths are in UEC in total?Originally posted by musli_bar:With the new svc 43, there will be no more berths
Reminds me of svc 34.Originally posted by sinicker:UEC can be used as a no-alighting/boarding terminal if they wanted to.
Admiralty Rd West Ter was converted into a no-alighting and boarding terminus.Originally posted by sinicker:guys, berths not important.. berths can be cheaply constructed. moreover, UEC can be used as a no-alighting/boarding terminal if they wanted to.
my take on 59's route is...Originally posted by SGEMP:From what I have observed in sbst 59 press release:
I think
1) the svc 59 would continue thru Bedok Reservoir Road not BNRExtn after Kaki Bukit Ave 1 to get into Tampines.
2) and thence the svc 59 will get past my Damai Secondary School.
would such things happen or likely to happen?
It's quite cramped really.. Last time I was there, I saw some bus using berths as parking. Even if they properly use parking space, it's cramped for buses to go in an out.. and will create problem with the automated traffic light system outside the terminal.Originally posted by sinicker:guys, berths not important.. berths can be cheaply constructed. moreover, UEC can be used as a no-alighting/boarding terminal if they wanted to.
