Press Release on NDP Carnival@Marina3 August 2005 – The Carnival@Marina will be held at Marina South Park from 6 August to 14 August 2005 as part of the 40th National Day 2005 celebrations. To cater to the crowd heading to Marina South for the event, SBS Transit will make some temporary amendments to Service 400, which currently plies between Shenton Way and Marina South. Also, to tie-in with the countdown party to be held at the Carnival@Marina on 8 August 2005, SBS Transit will extend its train service as well as operate special services to serve residents in the major housing estates.
I. Carnival@MarinaTemporary Extension of Service 400 (Extended route)In anticipation of the huge turnout of visitors and to make it convenient for them to get to the carnival site, the existing Service 400 will be temporarily extended to operate from New Bridge Road Terminal to Marina South during the Carnival@Marina period on weekends, National Day and eve of National Day, ie. 6, 7, 8, 9, 13 and 14 August 2005.
The extended service will call at Outram Park, Chinatown, Raffles Place and Marina Bay Stations and selected bus stops enroute. Its forward journey will be via Upper Pickering Street, Church Street and Shenton Way while its return journey will be via Robinson Road, Chulia Street and South Canal Road. It will serve a number of major carparks enroute, such as Market Street, Golden Shoe, OCBC Centre, Robina House, Shenton House, DBS Building Tower 2 and UIC Building, and call at a temporary bus stop outside OCBC Centre along South Canal Road for alighting on its return journey. This will facilitate an easy travel to the carnival site for motorists who park and ride in the vicinity.
The extended service will operate from 9.30am to 11.30pm on the above mentioned dates, except for 8 August, on which will operate from 6.30pm to 1.30am the following day.
Temporary Amendment of Service 400 (Normal route)To facilitate the smooth and safe conduct of activities at the carnival site, buses on Service 400 will be temporarily amended to operate between Shenton Way Terminal and Marina Mall (loop) during the carnival period on weekdays. Only specific bus stops will be used for boarding and alighting activities in the Marina South.
The amended route of Service 400 will operate from 9am to 6.30pm on 8 August and from 9am to 11.30pm on 10, 11 and 12 August 2005.
Short Trips of Service 400 (Service 400A)To cater to the crowd, Service 400A, short trips of Service 400, will also operate between Marina Bay Station and Marina Mall (loop) from 9am to 11.30pm on all days during the carnival period, except for 8 August which will operate till 1.30am the following day.
Flat fare of 64 cents for ez-link card and 90 cents for cash payment will be charged for the above-mentioned types of services for this carnival. Transfer rebate and concessionary travel will be applicable.
II. Countdown Party at Carnival@MarinaTo tie-in with the Carnival Countdown Party at Marina South and enable the revellers to get home after midnight, SBS Transit will extend the operating hours of rail service and operate special bus services on mid-night of 8 August 2005, the eve of National Day.
SBS Transit Special Bus ServicesSBS Transit will be operating 8 special services to complement the last train arriving at the respective train stations from the countdown party at Carnival@Marina. The special services will charge feeder fare and the service numbering will tie-in with the station served, such as NE13 for Kovan Station and NE14 for Hougang Station.
The new towns to be served by these special services are Bedok, Boon Lay, Clementi, Hougang, Jurong East, Pasir Ris and Tampines.

- Dhoby Ghaut Station at 2.00 and 1.55am, 9 August 2005, for directions towards Punggol and HarbourFront respectively.
- Outram Park Station at 1.55 and 2.00am, 9 August 2005, for directions towards Punggol and HarbourFront respectively.
Sengkang LRTThe last train will leave the Sengkang Town Centre Station at 2.25 am, 9 August 2005.
Punggol LRTThe last train will leave the Punggol Town Centre Station at 2.28 am, 9 August 2005.
