I am back from Phuket, Thailand!

For those who like sport & water activities. Shopping at Phuket town is a good deal too.
Everyday suntanning and seeing topless babes at the beaches, esp Patong Beach. Can't take a photo of the beach w/o getting a topless babe in it.
Every evening eating seafood. The seafood is very fresh and everyday we are better at bargaining for a lower price. The first day, We contacted a Singaporean tour quide and the bastard brought us to an expensive stall. Somemore we treat him
. After that we move on our own bcoz we know the place liao.
Every night drink Heniken in our Hotel till we drop. Buy from the mini marts or 7-11. Big bottle the most expensive is selling at most S$2.80 (70 baht).
6 days is a good period to stay. No rush.
Do
1) Ask around for the price of everything (services, transport & shopping). Find out the range so that you will not be fleeced.
2) More around on your own and try to arrange your own programme. The tour or hotel package is expensive. If you walk-in into the shops running the activities is a lot cheaper.
3) Bring a calculator to convert the price. Your calculator is your communication tool on money saving.
Do Not
1) Do Not Buy from the Indian and middle east ppl running sovenior stalls. They will not hestitate to be rude to Asians and quote you up to 6 times. The locals ladies are a lot better as they respect tourist.
2) Do not rush to buy anything. A better deal pops up when you search at ease. They usually quote 3 to 4 times the price when there is price tags. Bargain.
3) Do not drive or ride on your own. When you are a foreigner, right or wrong during accident, you are wrong. Tons of money is needed to settle the accidents. Only car insurance exist and they cover the physical vehicle only only. Move around on their tuk tuk is quite reliable.
I stayed at Kamala Bay Garden Resort. Very relaxing place. Room has pantry so we saved a lot by cooking our own makan, esp breakfast.
Found a taxi driver called Arron Pattanee, who runs is own taxi services just outside the hotel. He is a reliable guide who speaks English. Brought us around at a good price. We feel safe with him. He got a lot of lobang for the activities at Phuket.
Will go back there again

I find Patong Beach too commercialise too. You can try staying at Kamala Bay Garden Resort. 10 mins drive from Patong. You only see mountains and greens around. No sight of traffic until you walk to the main road where you see Kamala Beach.

I tried the Phuket shooting range, All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Phi Phi island snorkelling. The rest spend on food and shopping. Wish I had more money to spend. There is a new shopping complex called Central Festival. A bit like Taka. Nice place. -

I am looking at Karon Beach for staying as the Dive Centre i am interested in is located at Karon Beach.
U tried ATV? U drive or just a passenger? No go for Fantasea Show, Simon Cabaret Show, Massage? Can tell me more about shopping in Phuket compare to BKK? Wanna coinvince my sweetheart to go Phuket rather than BKK....

that time i went..... got topless babes meh?? alot of aunties is true.... haha...... and yeah.... patong beach is too commercialised.... can't even get a decent photo without having some sun-tanning beds in view..... so many beds for what..... i dun see so many people lazing around.... duhz

I tried the ATV as driver. REally fun. I will try the 2 hours ride the next time in another part of Phuket.
The shows I nv go bcoz I think they are a waste of money.
The shopping is quite ok. Try the Robinsons and Central Festival in Phuket Town. The rest our guide say not popular liao. The Wacoal and Truimph bra and panties a lot cheaper. Bras cost only half of Spore and panties nearly 4 time cheaper. My wife grabbed a lot and even buy for my neighbour and sister-in-law as presents. (But I sign my card like
). But its really cheap when I came back to check. I see a lot of ladies buying the lingerie like mad. The ang mo sweep the bikinis like some 3 for $10 sale.
The other branded stuff like Oakley and sports brand only cheaper by a few dollars in Central Festival.
U can forget the the sports shops along Patong Beach bcoz the price is very expensive.
Lots of massage everywhere, even on the beach got open air massage. But I only tried the massage outside my hotel. Full body relaxing massage $250 baht=S$10 for one hour. But I feel a little painful on the thigh and neck muscles. The facial massage is very nice. I dun really seow massage so never try all.
The next trip I intend to go Phuket town on day 1 at Robinsons. Buy all the food stuff & beer so that you can save a lot on breakfast in hotel. Lunch & Dinner pamper yourself by eating outside. Only one Mac and KFC at Patong Beach. Dun try roadside food as only the local stomach can take it. ... -

Maritchie far? Where u stay? I jog around Singapore; eg Clementi, Jurong, Esplanade, Seragoon, Hougang, Bedok. I am sure we can arrange something.... -

Thanks for the tips ,TRoy47, by the way did u try any food that is barbequed using coconut husks?Seemd like the restaurant is out on the outskirts of town.
Anyway, I went ther 5 years ago,place must have changed a lot,may consider going during December with my missus.I loved the crystal blue sea,it just give me a serene and peaceful feeling. -

Phuket is happening only from their summer months of November to April (Peak season).
The rest of the months May to October off peak bcoz of strong huge waves, no sea sports at all. During the off peak accommodation very cheap. Peak season hotel prices raise to up to 2.5 times.
