Tripod and remote ctrl

  I have a Sony DSC-P73 and has intensions of getting a compatible
  tripod for the cam. Wonder what is the price range (SGD) for the legs which allow stable shooting at eye level (i am around 1.67m in height).
  
  My digicam has a self timer and cam shake warning, would it be advisable to
  get a remote control unit too?
