Just trying my hand at this

  I'm just getting into photography and I got myself a Canon Powershot S1. It's not a whiz-bang camera, but it does have manual focus shutter speed and all.
  
  Anyway, I've been mucking about and here's one of my first efforts:

  Nah, it's an S1 IS - set me back $800. The guy at the shop recommended against the Pro for my purposes and budget - I kinda broke the bank getting the Rolex.

  Yup, that's the one above. I figured I'd get it to play around with before deciding if I'd get serious. The one thing that kind of annoys me is that it doesn't have a macro setting.

  err i think the position of the lens elements are diff in macro mode than in normal telescopic mode

  When I zoom in, it hits a point where the minimal focal distance abruptly goes from 10cm to 1m. If I need to take a close-up shot, it gets pretty annoying because I need to fiddle around with the placement of the camera.
