It's pretty recent. I would have to be there.Originally posted by froggie:Yeah so were you there for the wedding?

firstly, no u're not sprouting nonsense at all, it's always good to have non-photographers look at the photos and give honest comments because generally, there are more non-photogs that look at photos than photogs!
u're mostly right, alot of it is due to personal preference. i dun really have a style for bridal shoots, as opposed to my actual day shoots, these two events are VASTLY different. so i'm still figuring it out.
a few pple like urself have commented on the colour photos not "standing out". what u guys probably mean, and the term for it, would be the lack of saturation. it's more of a not here not there kind of look, it's not full colour, not is it b/w or mono. i do like desaturated shots sometimes, my favourite being of this series is below, but i guess most aren't used to this look.
for this shot, i wanted a totally clean white sky, very minimal distractions, the lamp-post perhaps the only nice complement, and something very dreamy, foggy, pale, serene, not provocative, INSIPID hahahaah.. hard to explain... but of course, the couple might not choose to print it, but i'm ok with it. they're the ones paying, which is wat's important.
so yes it's kinda tough to know wat is good, but i know it's always best to hear out views from pple like u, thanx!
u'd be surprised.... it's pple like u that prob make natural photographers.Originally posted by on tenterhooks:agree...among all the desaturated pics in this album, this is also the pic i like. Apart from the effects you wanted to create (which you've very nicely achieved it btw)...it's also the couple's pose and body language that attracted me. They oozed love, faith and cherish for each other in this pic. I actually thgt that the pic felt like as if they're looking back from a distance at their old self (ie. singlehood) and saying "Goodbye...Dun worry, we'll hold each other and build a beautiful life forever. This is a promise...our promise." I like this effect...if too saturated (man! i enjoy using new terms i learn.. ), it probably won't create that sorta feel in me.
O well, just another rattling on again...dun mind me. Anyway, i thank you also leh...for teaching me some terms about photography and sharing your insights on the pic you've shooted. Neat job!
where where?? i also wanna see him! or her...Originally posted by AdAptAliS:It's pretty recent. I would have to be there.
Then i can see the great photographer?

you look at the picture you want, not at HOW to get it.
to be honest, knowing wat u want is harder than how to get it. some pple (like me) just have no idea sometimes, till we look thru the view finder, snap a few and then somehow inspiration comes (with experience this process is quite speedy) but sometimes i'm just stuck.
the HOW to get the shot part isn't hard, it's just technical knowledge. how much light, from where, which angle, wat aperture/shutter all very easy to learn. it's composition and mood and er... aiyah even describing it isn't easy.
art is like that lar. it needs not be explained sometimes. u just know when u like something. but u might know wat the thing is u like. isn't life like that sometimes?
ok my turn to sprout nonsense!

arrr serious... u got a cam? try it if u haven't already.. try try try try try shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot..Originally posted by on tenterhooks:ppl like me make possible natural photographers?
nay, it's just that i'm a very visual person...hence, i luv looking at pic. i luv staring at them and then imagine why the person behind the lense took such and such a pic...and the message he/she is trying to bring across...and what the object in the pic is trying to say or show....very very interesting....
AGREE! art needs no explanation indeed! afterall, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder....each to its own lor....
at the end of a day, i can half guess anything under the sun what the photo taker is trying to capture in his/her shoot...but it'll never match having the photo taker expressing the msg of the pic lor....which was wat you did for this pic...me veri appreciate that!
Sorry, I don't have time to browse through the photos. On this photo alone:Originally posted by jOhO:
how did u take this pic ?Originally posted by jOhO:
which pic? i can't see it at work, firewall.Originally posted by bismarck:how did u take this pic ?
as in, settings
yo! thanx for ur comments.Originally posted by ziezoe:Sorry, I don't have time to browse through the photos. On this photo alone:
1) Composition - good, bride looked relax and sweet.
2) Exposure - a little too much contrast / over-exposed (could be due to the CPU screen). The contrast on the veil took a little attention from the bride's face, not too sure if actual photo has this effect.
3) Lightings - reflector (if you are using) is not well balanced. Could be due to the exposure again.
Overall - good (unless you are a professional!)
btw: wrong hair-do, or maybe a tiara would be better.
i never own a cam in my life thus far...unbelieveable isn't it? anyway, i intended to pick up elementary photography skill towards the end of last yr, thru taking some short courses...but didn't manage to enrol in time lor...threafter my part-time study resumes...then i no time liao...haiz....Originally posted by jOhO:arrr serious... u got a cam? try it if u haven't already.. try try try try try shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot..
ok i haven't got anythign intelligent to say this time.. i'm half asleep at work....
i tied up my hair in a pony tail becos it was getting irritating and walked around the office... amused all my colleagues.. too tired to bother...
I am using LCD, from your confidence level, I've guess it's the screen.Originally posted by jOhO:yo! thanx for ur comments.
the over-exposure is kinda not really.. ahha the details are totally there, just that i've upped the curves for print. if u're looking at it on an LCD then it's TOTALLY burnt... on CRT still ok, but yeah it's meant to be over, but not gone.
hmm i can't remember if i was using a reflector for this one, yeah i think i was but with flash.. i have to go back and check the exif.
i wouldn't have a clue about the tiara and hair!!
yeah i've woken up liow... but still feeling tired... will reply more later...Originally posted by on tenterhooks:i never own a cam in my life thus far...unbelieveable isn't it? anyway, i intended to pick up elementary photography skill towards the end of last yr, thru taking some short courses...but didn't manage to enrol in time lor...threafter my part-time study resumes...then i no time liao...haiz....
But i'll go for it again this yr. I'm keen to learn something about photography in general....
you feel abit sluggish ah? good la, good la...entertain ur colleagues abit also can somewat hype you up somehow sometime...
thanx, yeah i'm on LCD now at my frens office.. GROSSLY over.. ahhahahaOriginally posted by ziezoe:I am using LCD, from your confidence level, I've guess it's the screen.
If time permits, I may go through more of your works. Good job.
Make-up artist, stylist (hair) and photographer have a common objective: to make the bride pretty. Sad they often don't see eye to eye. Photographers have less of such problem, cause they are usually interest driven.
Eh... Don't act leh. Won't see ar? Wasted.Originally posted by jOhO:where where?? i also wanna see him! or her...
eheh i'll be there, make sure u come up to me and say hi.... there'll be two photogs, one is under training.Originally posted by AdAptAliS:Eh... Don't act leh. Won't see ar? Wasted.
