my cam's sort of "fixed aperture" is f6.5 for nightshots...no matter how much light..if any
shutter speed ah?

actually, i feel the exposure is too long. because with 8s, the cars zoomed past and you're left nothing but trails. this makes the picture a bit 'boring'. should have some cars in it, with the trails.
the foreground's a bit empty. try to step back and recompose the picture.
but good exposure

think it;s because i tried it too late.. ard 11pm...
so few cars..in fact i had to wait for the cars to come near the cam before depressing the shutter -

1. i would post only photos that i think were nice. in this series, their generally taken from the same spot so i'd just choose a couple to post up.
2. when u look at the photos, where does ur eye focus on? the trails? the sparodic lights? the barrier on the left of the frame? (in a couple of the photos). i find that the photos are unable to hold attention becos there's just so many things to look at.
3. traffic trails are better taken when there aren't so many distracting lights around, generally speaking. of course, usually where there's traffic there's street light. try a higher vantage point like on top of an over head bridge and when there's more traffic. also, u need some REAL streaks, which comes from having more traffic, if not some of the photos look like the road, with something blur going thru it.
4. there are some really wierd spots near where the lights are, i can't tell if it's flare, or dust. take note of that. sometimes flare just can't be helped, so it's good to take note where light sources are in ur frame.
5. i'm sure u used a tripod, but i've seen sharper photos from ur cam. did u use a cable release or the timer so that ur finger doesn't move the camera when u depress the shutter?

besides remote control or tripod, any other unofficial but effective way for a stable grip or hold on the camera befor taking a shot?

with compliance with the cheapo attitude in me, i didnt use a tripod for this...havent been using 1 since my dad's 10years old alu tripod koyak a few mths ago.
i was at a taxi stand outside my sch waiting for my mum to pick me up as she was leaving work (OT) so i placed the cam on the seat...while using the massive batt-draining LCD to start shooting.
but couldnt compose using it because i was looking near 170deg to the screen. like when u are trying to look at LCD frm another angle...then u see funny colours...
i admit the street lights of teh mrt was damn distracting...for the barrier...let me go take another look. but i had to use it to get an AF lock on my cam, even if i use ISO 400,200 also cant AF when i point it at less distracting areas and i can get loads of noise even Neat Image cant help without screwing up the pic.
actually i am waiting for my exams end and some free time to go to overhead bridges to take long trails and trying to borrow a manaul film SLE frm sch but...long story...plus new management is screwed..

not when as of now, i am in a deficit of more than 500dollars without spending a cent until july..thanks to my lecturer sending me to an attachment with zero pay for 8weeks
plus my dad simply refuses to hear me out when i said i wanted to buy 1. close to banning it...but heck.. my money -
