sian...abit disappointed.
somemore swop with my WA lens. like so troublesome.
sian....oh yah tell u guys 1 thing which i feel damn aaaarrrrgggghhhh.
on day 1 we walked ard in the uni and had abit of orientation then some photo taking.
then after eating some snacks we went out this building and i was wondering where the photographer was. then i turned to talk to a friend of mine and he told me that the guy behind me was holding a camera looking much more powerful than mine, so i turned and saw this DSLR,but i didnt dare to cfrm it was a DSLR , so i said it was a SLR.
then the photographer said " yeap, this is the EOS 1D'
kns...lost all my pride.
then when we were taking the photos, his friend who was with him asked me whether i wanted to pass the cam to him so that he could take 1 for me. but i felt like...arrrrrggghhh...so declined...kns..
i think the lens he was using , looks short lah.
maybe something like 18-55mm ? with lens hood. once i stole a peek at his LCD. the pics were truly DSLR....damn clear....the colour,richness...etc///
sian...
hahha u and ur salivating..
anyway a 1D is a bit old liow.. if he had the 1Ds which is full frame then ok steady.. there's only 2 full frame dslrs out there now. if u're talking about the 18-55 EF-S lens that comes as a kit with the 300D then it wouldn't fit on the the 1D...
anyway bis buddy, u need to get a very fundamental attitude right. let's reverse the roles, and say u struck lottery and bought yourself a full frame Canon 1Ds and a Nikon D2H as backup, using ONLY L lenses for the canon and AFS f2.8 fixed aperture lenses for the nikon, do u think u could take better pictures?
also, if u really had all those equipment, would u look down on someone, (say me?) becos i only have a cp5700? would u decline to take my camera and help me get a snapshot of my joyous moments in melbourne with some really nice pple?
sometimes we gotta remember photography is not about photos. it's about capturing a moment. a moment that will bring a smile to your face when u open it in ACDSee or when u flip thru the album. the photo could be yellowed with age, but u will still smile in ur old age. at that time, does it matter if u took the photo with a lumix or with a 1Ds, or even a disposible cam from the newsagent?
hope i haven't been too harsh, but if no one tells u this now, u will never be able to take good photos, becos u will never be able to have the best equipment. not becos u won't be able to earn that money, but becos equipment can ALWAYS be bettered, attitude, not necessarily.
OK! enuff of that... now to ur polarizer question.
to get the bluest sky, do a thumbs up with ur hand and point that thumb to the sun. now open and close ur palm with the thumb still pointing to the sun. the area that your fingers "sweep" the sky is the part where it will turn out the bluest. (90 degrees plane from direction of sun) if the sky is cloudy, then go shoot urself or something
now, be careful with the polarizer when using wide angles, becos with WAs u can catch ALOT of sky in ur frame, so there will be some parts of the sky that are REALLY blue, and other parts that are not (as in not part of the "fingers" when u open and close ur palm). this might result in a very unnatural photo becos of a very contrasty sky (very deep blue vs very light blue)
of course some photographers have made use of this effect to their advantage, it depends on what u're after.
also, NEVER use a polariser with flash, firstly u lose 2 stops of light, secondly some of the light will be filtered away.
and if u must stack filters, put the polarizer last, but be careful of vignetting.
eh.. i think that's enuff for polarizers from me for now. to be honest, i can't remember the last time i used mine. prob in australia. in sg, the sky is either too sh[/i]it or too cloudy, i rather not lose my 2 stops of light and get more contrast with photoshop!
