Streets of Tokyo - Asakusa

The Asakusa Temple in Tokyo is kind of similar to the Guan Yin Temple (Goddess of Mercy) which we have in Bugis.
Consists of 3 parts - The first, a shopping street with shops selling all sorts of japanese merchandise. The second part, a huge gate which is the entrance to the main temple and the last part, the main temple itself.
Filled with worshippers (both japanese and foreigners) everyday, it is the most famous Buddhist temple in Tokyo.

Japanese believe that "scooping" the smoke of the incense onto their body will heal illness and bring them good luck. Also for children taking exams, "scooping" the smoke onto their head supposedly enhances their intellectual abilites

one thing about touring japan though..
think you can skip tokyo..go visit places like okinawa or kyuushuu (in the south) or hokkaido (in the north)
they have lots of seafood and wonderful scenery there..
