yeah..its very nice. the feeling is completely different from my previous oly C750..and i love the mirror flapping sound!
only prob seems to be the Al Servo mode and the metering modes. but the Al Servo seems to be working too well for mine..after focusing on a subject, and if that subject moves, it jumps straight in to Al servo..there's no need to "trick" the cam into doing so like what users over at CS always say..
as for metering..its still possible to choose the metering modes by using manual and AE lock...so its not a prob at all..hehe..
the tamron is a 4-5.6..more for outdoor shoot..but..its really cheap..at around..S$240
can't expect too much from these consumer lenses -

on the lens there are f values frm 2.8 to 22 but when i read the specs, they tell me say e.g f 4 to f8 only.
why? how come like that ?

cos for most digicams..the lowest you can stop down to is around f8..
whereas, for example, the tamron 70-300 f4-5.6 would mean that the widest you can open at 70mm is f4 and as you increase the focal length to 300mm..it will stop down to f5.6. At the tele end (300mm) the widest the aperture can open is only f5.6. However, at any focal length, you can stop down to f22 if you want.
another example would be a constant aperture 2.8..for example a 70-200 f2.8..at any focal length, the aperture can open up to f2.8..and stopped down to f22 or f32..

for digicam..they are all made in a way such that they can stay at a constant aperture (of f2.
throughout all focal lengths or they go down by 1/3 or 1/2 a stop to f3.2 or f3.5 at the tele end..
its a all-in-one package. lets say..for a digicam, if at 10x zoom, the widest it can go is f5.6..and you can't increase ISO to above 200 for noise/grain will be very obvious, then chances are your shots will be blurred (handheld).
cos even if its very sunny, at ISO of 100 and aperture f5.6, to get a shutter of 1/400 and faster to "stabilize" your shot at 10x zoom is quite difficult..
and then..there are lenses with constant aperture of f2.8 throughout the whole range of focal lengths for SLR too..but they will be very very costly lor..for example, even a third party 70-200 f2.8 will cost >$1000 -

lenses are designed in different ways.. those constant aperture ones thruout the zoom range will cost more than those that have a smaller aperture at the tele end..
basically the smaller the f numbers, the more ex the lens... -

fz1,fz2 and fz10 are the only cameras in lumix's range that has constand f2.8. dunno why
my dad has a nikon lens 300mm f2.8 constant. dunno how much is the lens. -

quality of the tamron 70-300..hmm..AF is a bit noisy (but of cos there's manual focusing)..and quite slow under poor lighting.
optically..i think the cost performance is quite good..kind of satisfied with the images its giving me for the price (but i'm a person with low expectations =P)
wide + fast = $$$$$$$ leh..the prices of the lenses you want looks something like $xxxx yah?
me also want something fast..but i'm not so greedy..a 1000mm f1.0 will do
