  He works along the river where all the godowns are.all the coolies carrying loads heavier than the weight of the world on their shoulders.faces without expressions.he sells them drinks.samsoo and whiskey from thailand,beer and wine from china,all sorts.he would sell them whatever he could get his hands on.and they would buy from him.everyday after dark.after a hard day of loading and unloading goods that means nothing to them,goods that are alien to them.to the godowns the size of their entire village back from they came.they would sit down in threes or fives to have a drink.after they unloaded the weight off their shoulder,after having live another day.theirs was a hard life.He,he will open up his little roadside stall after 8 pm.he knows that that is the time the coolies are packing up.most of them worked from 5am to 9pm.and after 9pm,they will come to him.Some,to relax.Most,to drown their pain and sorrow....
  
  He too came in a boat from china.3 months in the old junk,more people than not didn't make it.most are thrown overboard if theres no one to protest.those with family or relatives onboard,can sometimes hope from a decent burial once(if) they touch land....he did not come alone,he came with his childhood sweetheart,Chel.and they promise each other that if either should die along the way,the other will throw the dead one into the sea.Ahhhh,the sea.he loves the sea,it seems endless,flowing into the horizon.teh complete opposition to his life right now.he needed a change,a chance.so he decided to take that step.and he told chel to come with him,to start a new life in a new place.chel agreed almost too quickly.nothing could be worst than their current live,even if it didn't get better,it cannot go any worst.so they took their 1st big step in their lives.
