abt yr 5700, how to add UV filter ? need adapter ?
is it easy to focus in low light ?
easy to use for beginners ( which brings me to the question, am a beginner ? i think i am) ?
any idea what is hot pixels? heard some cams have this prob.
how long does the batt last ?

~~ yes.. need adaptors.. the one i have is shipped from overseas, however they have locally made ones.

~~ how low is low light? just remember that all DCs now use contract detecting AF. so even if u have alot of light but very low contrast in ur frame, it still can't focus. i can't say if mine is slow or lousy, because i learn to live with it. but yes this camera is reputed to be slow in low light.

~~ learning curve for nikons are generally higher, but i have had no probs, since i'm a manual reader. anyone who bothers to read the manual won't have a problem with the cam, and plus u already know many things about photgraphy and won't be confused with the terms.

~~ hot pixels are pixels that get too excited when the exposure is too long and the appear in ur image as a very bright coloured spot. noise reduction in most DCs will remove this. it's not really removing NOISE as we know it, more of removing these pixels. there will ALWAYS be hot pixels on ur CCD.. just depends on how many. it is DEAD pixels that u need to worry about, where the pixel is stuck, just won't record any information.
how long does the batt last ?
~~ the EN-EL1 is a piece of sh!t... lasts maybe at most 200 shots. depends on whether ur shutter speed is long, and usage of flash and reviewing photos. u'll definitely need spares, or get the MB5700 batt pack that takes AAs...

today a computer classroom adjacent to mine has this photographer. at first i thought he was finishing and packing up for some shoots for the previous class. then i ignored him but he seemed to be staying there and i noticed his cam.

i couldnt see the words abv the lens on the camera. so i asked 2 classmates to take a look. cant see....
either fuji or something. then i msged my friend next door using the internal msg thingy. then he took a look and lip-read me to tell me it was fuji.
then because he went right in front of the cam to see...he got picked to sit right in front of the cam to be photographed to look like he was using the com....when he wasnt...
then the photographer started snapping using the cable release. the cam was mounted on a tripod...
keep changing position and snap.
then later he allowed the class to see what he took then i released he was using a DSLR. checked the net...he used a S2 PRO DSLR
kns...1 of any DSLR i was planning to buy when i got the skill and experience
anyway i saw my photo club friend and told him abt my plans to get a s7000 or something. then he suggested i get the canon 300D which i didnt want because it's a DSLR. not now....i mean that thing costs 1800. then the s7000 would cost me ard 1300 or below.
he told me i shld sell my lumix...of course i would....he said, "aiyah just a few hundred bucks" ....
i also know that.....problem is...i AINT rich and so is my family and no one is supporting my hobby...financially...

yeah fuji has only 2 dSLRs.. the S1pro and the S2pro. using nikon's F mount. the d100 is still more popular but i've heard the s2pro is pretty good too.

ahha no lar shutter lag not in seconds.. u prob mean milliseconds..
if my shutter lag is 1 whole second i'll be throwing my cam away liow.
i'm not sure how to measure shutter lag. in milliseconds sure cannot argar... perhaps u can try to get some figures online?
have u read dpreview's review on this cam? (and the other cams that u are interested in?) -

My shutter lag is very jia lat for ixus 330...maybe nearly a sec.
But....this is the technology 2yrs ago...so wat can I say?
