polarizing filters

anyway let me ask some questions ( this may sound stupid)
what can i use it for ?
applications?
limitations?
found 1 at cathay, 35 bucks (tmd ) -
a quick one before i leave house for the day..
what brand is the filter?
polarisers are good for reducing reflections from non-metallic objects, e.g. water, windows, plastics, etc.. it's good in situations like taking fishes, aquatic animals in pons.. or cutting reflection from wet ground.. it can also make skies appear bluer, and less hazier from the reflections of dust and vapour in the air..
the common limitation is that it reduces your exposure by 1/2 to 1 stop depending specs of the polariser..
there are two type of polarisers. linear and circular.. if you use auto-focusing and your camera meter a lot, buy the circular polarised ones.. linear polarisers are used if you are not using the camera meter or auto-focusing..
that's all i can think of now..

C) Penetrate haze
D) Saturate (intensify) colors

personally i go to john 3:16 at funan.. good service, and i know the guy there.. don't have the best prices though.. -
bis u'll need a circular pol for ur cam.
do u know the thread size of ur lens? if ur cam is not like mine (a "custom size") then u should be able to screw it on, or at least get step-up rings to screw one on. i think best is u bring your cam to a dealer and see if it fits.. -

i used it alot in australia. the skies were blue, and even bluer with the cpl..

My instructor say it is compulsory for us to buy it if we want to take nice nice pictures of waterfalls. It filters off the red and sunrays. So that the pictures of the water fall comes out nice and green and blue....so he say.
Now.....where should I get it??? Maybe like wat jOhO said, get those screw on wan from....cathay?

bismarck ah..maybe u would to try the hoya moose's filter..its a combi of a cpl n a 81A warm filter..
pics taken wif a cpl then to haf a bluish tint..the warm filter compensates for tt...

and yah..its a polarising filter..
but hor..polarisers tend to slow shutter speeds by ard 2 stops..so unless ur cam's max shutter is 1/2000 or faster, they will tend to cause some problems (esp when u use zoom)
