  sheesh... watching tv now.. seems that in 13 August 1979, some insane weather conditions... scary..
  
  on 10 Aug, in N America, a storm happened... then the jetstream caught it, and by the time it reached Ireland, 13 Aug, it hit a yachting race.. waves larger than the boats hammered them..
  
  because a freak "surface jet" hit the storm and split the storm into 7 separate hurricanes which converged again into the largest storm in history
