and it depends on wat type of skill u mean. the creative side is a little hard to learn, like u would mathematics. however it can be picked up thru practice and looking at other pple's work. sometimes when u see something in front of u, take a min or two to just figure out wat it'll look like in a frame, and move urself to check out angles and stuff like that. look left and right, near and far and UP AND DOWN.. many pple forget the ups and downs.
as for "technical" skill, that one SURE come with practice. things like exposure setting, focusing, and holding the camera steady. u'll also grow to learn how to use ur camera quickly and fly thru all the functions u need when preparing for a shot. there's quite a bit to learn, like aperture and shutter settings, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, focal length (zoom) and all these affect each other. but believe me, if u have the interest and passion all this will become second nature to u once u start owning ur equipment and shoot EVERYTHING.
AND.. there's always an auto mode if ever u are blurr and NEED to get that shot quickly! -

IMO, i'd save the money on courses (which can be quite costly) to buy equipment. but then i haven't tried any of the courses so maybe my view is a little biased. -
i've a friend who's a photographer.. maybe I'll ask him 2 teach me someday
or u guys can teach me too in a few times time

there's a local online community called clubsnap where i'm posting and they're very helpful and got some pros there also. i'm learning alot from there. u bored u can always go there and have a look and post there. when u wanna buy equipment can also seek their advice and they even have fortnightly meetings JUST to go shopping, so that u won't kena kotok by some of the unscrupulous vendors at simlim and peninsular plaza.
