I have the non-AFS Lens. IMHO I think that Nikon is positioning their products this way:Originally posted by jOhO:hi and welcome! f80... very nice..!!
using the AF or AFS lens? i've always wondered why the older AF ones are faster, then they release the new AFS ones and it's not as bright, but put on ED and SWM on... like trading off like that leh.. but i guess it makes it much cheaper too..
eheh yeah i think u just about summed it up there.Originally posted by spencer99:I have the non-AFS Lens. IMHO I think that Nikon is positioning their products this way:
Small aperture and non-AFS - $
Small aperture and AFS - $$
Bigger aperture and non-AFS - $$ or $$$
Very big aperture and AFS - $$$$
Personally I find that the "fast lens" with AFS too expensive liao.

not only ex, but heavy and bulky too. but i guess if u want fast lenses, no choice lor. all other makes/brands also like that. i guess it's just the optics.
i love fast lenses, (who doesn't!) but i'll probably get the non AFS ones. like u said, too ex liow!

I regularly do portraits with my gf who was a model...Originally posted by jOhO:oh i forgot the most important point.
there must be a certain rapport between photographer and model to produce great portraits. the onus is on the photographer to make the model feel at ease, and to trust him/her.
Generally as what jOhO said,Originally posted by bismarck:my sch the photo club have a potrait session at my sch. getting the in-house models.
