Due to numerous advertisement on the mass media, I have taken notice of Nikon's D40x.
But when I was at a camera shop, I was told it is just better to get a better one in one go. So I was recommended the Sony alpha 100. I am a bit apprehensive as this is Sony's first dSLR.
Any experts able to give the lowdown between these two?
This shop was offering the Alpha 100 kit for $1500+ plus a 2GB CF card, sony photo printer as well as a GPS to link the camera to. Comes with a 15 month warranty.
I am upgrading from a Canon A80.
Much appreciated.

Not too sure about exact details, from what I know about the two cameras...
D40X has better colour, higher pixel count and lesser noise over D40. But no built-in AF motor.
Sony Alpha seems to be rather good, from what little I've heard. But Sony uses Carl Zeiss lenses. I heard they are awesomely expensive. Unless you plan to go third-party?
Not sure if there's any third-party lens for Sony though. Either way, Sony is coming out with two more new DSLRs soon, I think.
