Wide angle zoom lens

After playing around with my standard kit lens for so long,
my hand is itching fro a wide angle zoom lens.
Calling for a review of any wide angle zoom lens.
Canon,Sigma,Tamron,Tokina.
Anyone u would like to recommend?
I am using a canon, so spare me the nikons.

non canon options: tonnnes.....
the question is, how much money u got, can u tell the difference between a $500 and a $2000 lens, and how often will that difference be a concern?
